Springtime, Shedding Pets and Selling Your Home - 04/28/11 06:16 AM
Springtime, Shedding Pets and Selling Your Home

Spring is a wonderful season.  I love the warmer weather, the green grass, the lush full trees and the blooms that fill the gardens.  My family loves to get outdoors and walk, bike, swim, play, etc.

One thing about spring that I don't enjoy is the shedding of my pets' hair.  Springtime is when many dog and cat breeds shed their winter coats to prepare for the heat.  With four cats and a thick, long haired dog.... You better believe we suffer from a few hairballs and a nice fur … (12 comments)

Imagine Spring Break All Year.....

Imagine living in an area that feels like vacation All Year!  This week in Carteret County, Kids are out of school for spring break.  So while many folks head to the beautiful Crystal Coast Beaches for vacation....We are already here!  We love it here and can't imagine spending our days off anywhere else.  So far this week we have walked the beach, visited the aquarium, and actually have done a little swimming too (the water is still a bit cold...brrr),

Now, I will say that I am still working a bit this week, … (17 comments)

From AR to Google to Phone Call in less than 2 hours.....AWESOME!

I wrote a post about a local event this morning... The Pine Knoll Shores Tree City Fair and it is stamped with a time of 6:55 am.  My cell phone rang 1 hour and 58 minutes after the post went public!  The call was from a local business owner wanting to reserve a booth at the fair.  She googled Tree City Fair and my blog was the first thing she saw! Granted, she didn't want to buy a house today, but she was friendly and very grateful that … (51 comments)

What to do With all of Those Hard Boiled Eggs?

Oh, Easter Sunday was a beautiful day on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.  It was warm and sunny, and Easter Service at St. Francis by the Sea was FABULOUS!  Thank you Father Everett!  Now...what to do with all of those Hard Boiled Eggs?  I love eggs.  Scrambled Eggs, Fried Eggs, and yes I love Hard Boiled eggs too.  So, here are just a few suggestions of ways to use those Hard Boiled eggs over the next few days....You certainly don't want to waste them!

Super Saturday on the Crystal Coast - 04/23/11 06:39 PM
Super Saturday on the Crystal Coast

I started my morning by heading to the market to buy some herbs, tomato & pepper plants, and a couple of bright red geraniums.  By the time I returned, the rotary Lookout Race had begun, and I had just enough time to grab the camera and take a few shots of Mom as she ran by (she came in 1st place in her division).  Once the race was over, I planted all of my plants, hung my geraniums on the back deck, and took a quick break to enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

The Itsy, Bitsy Spider....REALLY? - 04/22/11 06:34 AM
The Itsy, Bitsy Spider....REALLY?
I was chatting with my priest one morning and we were discussing the great number of spiders we've seen lately.  I made a comment about how much I like spiders, I find them very fascinating.  I also mentioned that Tanner, my six year old, also loves spiders thanks to "Charlottes Web".  Father Everett responded with "It's probably one of the most important books in a child's life, and the song "The Itsy, Bitsy Spider" is one of the most important songs in a child's life".  I was inspired by his answer when I asked why he thought … (24 comments)

Wonderful Wednesday on the Crystal Coast - 04/20/11 06:27 PM
Wonderful Wednesday on the Crystal Coast! I dropped my son off at Kindergarten this morning.  Nothing special, but it is always a treat to sit on the floor and converse with a bunch of 5 & 6 year olds.  They have so much energy and carry a conversation with such enthusiasm....It is contagious!  I then met my sister for coffee at Starbucks (Lovin' some Hazelnut Lattes).  After Coffee we headed back to the Morehead City Primary School to see our children perform in a school play, "The Night Before Easter"....And it was AWESOME!  I can't remember the last time I smiled … (13 comments)

Speechless Sunday Seashore Style! - 04/17/11 01:43 PM
Speechless Sunday....Seashore Style!

Last Night, one of the worst storms in the history of North Carolina Swept across the state.  Reports say that 62 tornadoes touched down and at least 22 lives were lost from the storm.  Along with lives lost, many homes were destroyed across the beautiful state of North Carolina.  We were very fortunate in Carteret County, but need to keep the families and friends of those who died in our thoughts and prayers.

Summertime, Summertime, Summertime..... - 04/16/11 08:40 AM
Summertime, Summertime, Summertime.....

Summertime is the great time to live on the Crystal Coast!  Many of our activities take place outside.  We spend a lot more time at the beach or at one of the many parks that Carteret County has to offer.  We spend hours boating, fishing or just hanging out on one of the piers.  We spend our weekends attending outdoor festivals and concerts.  When we go out to lunch or dinner, we often enjoy our meals outside.  While the nice, gentle breeze off the Atlantic Ocean feels cool....The sun is shining hot and bright in the Carolina … (12 comments)

Super, Sunny & Spectacular Sunday by the Seashore! - 04/10/11 04:45 PM
Super, Sunny & Spectacular Sunday by the Seashore!

Today has just been one of those days for the memory books.  Started out by attending church service at St. Francis by the Sea, where my dad was confirmed by the Bishop of Eastern Carolina.  Not only that, but my sweet little boy and several other children started the service with a song and a prayer (too cute).  It was definitely a service to remember!  Immediately following Church, My sister's family and mine took our dad out to lunch at El Zarape in Atlantic Beach....One of our favorite places.  We had a … (12 comments)

A Walk on the Beach with Amy! - 04/10/11 07:05 AM
A Walk on the Beach with Amy!

As my family and I were walking to the beach, my six year old was stopping to read each and every sign (he's learning to read), and one sign in particular caught his eye at the outdoor shower.  It was a great opportunity to explain to him the importance of water conservation.  He had a hard time grasping the concept while looking out at the Atlantic Ocean, but I think he is starting to "Get It".  Every drop counts, and according to this sign,1 slow drip can waste 20 gallons of water daily.  … (14 comments)

China Garden & Mongolian Grill
Morehead City, North Carolina

Those of you that know me, know that I am not a cook.  I don't enjoy cooking, I'm not good at it, and so when it is my turn to provide dinner for the family, we either go out to eat, or I order pizza, or I call the China Garden & Mongolian Grill.  I would have to say that if you took a poll in my house, China Garden & Mongolian Grill is our FAVORITE!  They are programmed into my smart phone, and in case of an emergency...I have … (24 comments)

A Walk on the Beach with Amy! - 04/03/11 07:05 PM
A Walk on the Beach with Amy!

Today was another gorgeous day on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.  After church, we had lunch at mom's house, and then all went on an adventure.  We took a walk through Trinity Center in Pine Knoll Shores, then ran through the tunnel that runs beneath Hwy. 58, to get to the beachside.

On the beach, we admired the seashells, chased the birds and each other, and well....Just enjoyed the warm weather,  the salt air, the sunshine and the view of the Atlantic Ocean!

Happy Birthday to the Ice Cream Sundae..... - 04/03/11 07:32 AM
Happy Birthday To the Ice Cream Sundae!

I woke up this morning (that's always a good thing), grabbed a cup of coffee and quickly began my morning ritual of "Computer Time". I, of course, went to Google, and found a new "Google Doodle" featuring a pic of an Ice Cream Sundae.  As I scrolled over the image, I discovered that the image was created to celebrate the 119th Anniversary of the First Ice Cream Sundae!

On April 3, 1892, John M. Scott and Chester Platt created the first historically documented sundae.  I don't know about you, but I am … (20 comments)

What Are Your Expectations?

When I married my husband ten years ago, we had been dating for almost five years.  When I said "I Do', I already knew that he was never going to fill the empty toilet paper roll.  I knew that he was ALWAYS going to squeeze the toothpaste from the middle, and I knew that if I didn't want to wear pink socks for the rest of my life, he wasn't going to do the Laundry either.  When he said "I Do", he knew that my idea of cooking was pizza delivery and chinese take out.  … (21 comments)
