Super Sunday.... Surfer Style! - 07/31/11 04:53 PM
Super Sunday.... Surfer Style!

The Buddy Pelletier Longboard Contest was this weekend in Emerald Isle, North Carolina.  We could not resist heading down to the Bogue Inlet Pier and enjoying watching the surfers as we soaked in a little sunshine and sea air!  We followed up with lunch at Michaelangos, feeding the turtles at Emerald Plantation and a little shopping at Planet Wear.
Ahhhhhh..... Life is good on the Crystal Coast!

Today is Mutt's Day!  Celebrate your Pooch!

If you are like us, you love your mutt everyday, but today is a very special day for mutts and their owners...It's National Mutt's Day!  As mutt owners, we know that mutts are the best darn dogs ever.  Oh sure, those pure bred dogs are pretty cool too, but there is just something special about a Mutt!

We were lucky enough to have Layla join our family back in the spring of 2002.  She was a stray and had been hit by a car.  Animal Control brought her to the animal hospital … (14 comments)

Why I Chose Real Estate! I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grow up! - 07/27/11 05:50 AM
Why I Chose Real Estate!
I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grow up!

My parents divorced when I was in grammar school.  My mother worked three jobs and went to school to get her degree while raising my sister and me. I was raised to work hard, never give up, and to Do unto others as I would have them do unto me.  I guess that is why I got my first job at the age of fourteen.. so that I could help pay my own way.  I worked part time at Cindy's Cinnamon Rolls … (23 comments)

Summertime.... Enjoy! - 07/26/11 07:27 AM
Summertime on the Crystal Coast

I love summer on the NC Coast!  I don't mind the extremely high temps, I don't mind the humidity (okay, maybe a little), I don't even mind the extra traffic on the beach because that means that tourism is still alive and well on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.  Everything is just so much more colorful in the summer, and for me,  it's easier to enjoy the simple things!  Seashells in the sand, water balloon fights in the backyard, the glorious colors of the Crepe Myrtles against the Carolina blue sky, Ice Cream Trucks,  … (25 comments)

My favorite things about Summer on the Crystal Coast! - 07/24/11 02:38 PM
My favorite things about Summer on the Crystal Coast!

Let's just go ahead and get the negative out of the way....It's HOT!  Really, really Hot!  We are seeing temps in the low 100s and folks are complaining big time.  Throw in 100% humidity and it's just miserable!  Well, I made a promise after this past winter (I really hate the cold), that when summer arrived I would not complain about the heat.  While it may be extremely and uncomfortably hot, there are many things I love about summer on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.

I Love a Pick-Up Truck, but..... - 07/22/11 11:08 AM
I Love a Pick-Up Truck, but.....Signing contracts in the bed of one? Not so much!  DocuSign, Here I Come!

I do not use DocuSign....YET!  I know, I know, You are probably wondering how in the world does a REALTOR® survive without DocuSign?  I live and work on the coast of North Carolina.  We deal with a lot of vacation and investment properties, and we deal with a lot of buyers and sellers from out of town.  So why NO docuSign yet?  Well, I'll tell you.  A Lot of our clients do not claim to be "computer" people.  In fact, … (16 comments)

Plans for a Sulfur Melting Facility in Morehead City, North Carolina

If you live in Carteret County, or maybe you just like to visit the area, you have probably heard something about the plans for a potential Sulfur Melting Facility to be built at the NC Port in Morehead City.  Many Residents of the area are not Happy!  They are unhappy that the plans were kept in a "vault" until just a couple of weeks ago, when an article came out in the Carteret News Times.  Since that article.... Tryon Palace in New Bern, North Carolina is one of my family's favorite places to visit.  From Palace tours to gorgeous gardens, hands on exhibits and special events year round, there is fun for the entire family!  This past weekend, we ended up there again (It's a 30 minute drive from Carteret County), and after spending hours wandering through the gardens, we discovered that the new North Carolina History Center had opened up, and of course....We Had to check it out.

Adventure Time on the Crystal Coast - 07/16/11 07:23 AM
Adventure Time on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina

It's Saturday morning, and somehow, my family and I have nothing on the calendar today.  No property showings for me, no soccer games or birthday parties for Tanner, no work or home projects calling Roger's name!  So.... what do we do?  We have decided to take an Adventure to nowhere in particular.  We are going to hop in the car and end up where we end up.  Somehow, I have a feeling that a ferry ride, a little hike and maybe a trip to the soda fountain may be involved!  Who … (18 comments)

McCabe's Garage in Morehead City, North Carolina

Picture it... You get ready for work, pack all your stuff in the car (and us REALTORS have a lot of "stuff"), get the kid strapped in his booster seat, find your keys, get situated and as you turn the ignition.... Nothing Happens.  You think, maybe I didn't turn the key right and try again.... Nothing.   It is part of life, but man it stinks....IT's just a bad feeling!

Well, that's what happened to me yesterday morning!  I must have sat in the driver's seat for 10 minutes.  Turning the key every … (26 comments)

Sunday Scenes from the Water... The Morehead City Port!

The Morehead City Port is one of the Deepest Ports on the US East Coast and is located only four miles from the Atlantic Ocean.  The Morehead City Port is accessible from I-95 and I-40 via NC Highways 70 & 17,  and from Norfolk Southern via daily train service.  They handle breakbulk and bulk cargo and the Morehead City Port is the 2nd largest importer for natural rubber in the US.
