One of my family's favorite places on the Crystal Coast is the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort. Not only do you learn about Maritime History & Coastal Living, boat building, the Seafood Industry and Whales.... You will learn all about Blackbeard and the Queen Anne's Revenge. 4. Paint a Picture. Head over to Blu Sail Gallery in Morehead City and sign up for one of the many classes or Paint & Partake sessions. They even have art camps for kids during the summer. Blu Sail Gallery has painting, but they also have pottery sessions, framing and more. The wonderful staff and activities offer fun for kids of all ages (and adults too).

Just in case the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores, NC wasn't cool enough..... Penguins will be taking up residence there in May. That ought to cool things off just in time for summer! To celebrate, the Aquarium is hosting a Pre-Penguin Party on Saturday, March 10th, 2012. The event will take place from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm, and kids under 12 who are dressed like a penguin, will receive free admission. My baby will be seven years old this weekend. Having a winter birthday has been tough for his dad and me, because we can't just stick the kids in the back yard or have a pool party, beach party, etc. We sometimes must be creative or we'll have a house full of little boys running around tormenting the kitties and the dog, and well, that's not fair to the cats..... and I can't deal with that!

Summer on the NC Coast is fabulous. Spending hours at the beach, watching the surfers and the tourists, Morehead City Marlins Baseball Games, Picniks, Sailing, Fishing, Hangin' out at the Cape, Shack Attacks..... Did I mention the beach!?
But..... When it starts getting a little cooler outside and we can open the windows and enjoy the fresh autumn breezes, I am a happy camper! I love fall anywhere, but I especially love fall on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. Sure the changing colors of the leaves is refreshing, the cooler air … (12 comments)

Let's just go ahead and get the negative out of the way....It's HOT! Really, really Hot! We are seeing temps in the low 100s and folks are complaining big time. Throw in 100% humidity and it's just miserable! Well, I made a promise after this past winter (I really hate the cold), that when summer arrived I would not complain about the heat. While it may be extremely and uncomfortably hot, there are many things I love about summer on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.

Well folks, Firework Celebrations for the Fourth of July were looking pretty grim here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. Nineteen Eastern Carolina Counties are currently under a "Burn Ban", and everyone was being urged to refrain from Fireworks on the fourth of July. Well Folks, I think we can say that summer has definitely arrived on the NC Coast. Yesterday afternoon, the thermostat read 102 whopping degrees. The good news is that on the beach it was only 98º...how refreshing! The water temperature on the Crystal Coast is currently 82º....Very Warm for this time of year.
I'm not complaining, I'll take the heat over the cold any day, and of course, there are many ways to cool off. I just wonder what July is gonna feel like!
