Many people have asked me "where did I come up with the name Andemeron Homes".  At the time of the "naming of my company", I had just been furloughed from my job and was starting a new business in construction.  What to name this new business?  I read marketing books, articles, and listened to suggestions.  Nothing appealed.  I was very detail oriented about the construction of my homes and the name had to reflect this attribute.  "Your name is part of your brand; short, easy to understand and pronounce" most sources said.  My "brand" was supposed to be integrated in my company's name, according to the marketing books.  OK, now I was getting the "naming block".

Funny how life speaks to you.  On a rainy day in April 2002, I was holding my 8 month old twin boys, in utter amazement, of how I could be so blessed with these two tiny human beings, Andrew and Cameron.  (Picture the Golden Corral pan upside the head commercial)  Name the company after the boys.  So, after many versions of Andrew and Cameron, Cameron and Andrew, AC, CA, etc, I decided to just scrunch their names together.

ANDEMERON - (Pronounced AN-DEM-ER-ON) was born.  I filed the name with the NC Secretary of State  soon after.  Since then I have spelled and pronounced ANDEMERON about a million times.  As frustrating as it my be, I am totally thrilled to pronounce and say where the name came from.

More than a dozen new homes after that April day, Andrew and Cameron are now 7.  Andemeron Homes has diversed into Andemeron Homes & Realty, and Andemeron Home Inspections.  Andrew and Cameron are totally into sports and think it's "really cool" that Daddy named his company after them.  (Sports being a 10 and the company being a...well 3 at best)

So maybe I didn't follow the "rules" of the marketing books.  Maybe "Andemeron" is hard to pronounce and remember.  So what if "Andemeron" doesn't fit the marketing guideline's.  I'll take my boy's 3 out of their 10 anyday.
