Farm Fresh in New Milford CT, A Worthy Project For All - 03/29/09 08:32 PM
Kim was looking for a field to plant and a way to teach her children all about farm life, Chick was looking for help on the farm. Perfect match you say? Yes indeed, couldn't be better. But they didn't know each other.Chick has 5 acres on one side of his farm that he grows corn for silage on. He calls this 5 acres "The Ponderosa", and he loves looking out from his kitchen window at the corn.  Now he doesn't need as much corn as he used to. He had to stop shipping milk last summer and sold the majority of … (8 comments)

Thoughts of North Dakota and beyond - 03/27/09 12:12 PM
I am watching the news, which I really never do these days. All of a sudden I was thinking about all the people in North Dakota who are in the middle of this flooding. Some of them are realtors. Moms, dads, children, grandparents, friends, brothers, sisters. And not just North Dakota, there are issues in Lousianna too.
So, to all who are in danger, who are scared today...
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Pet Friendly Realtors - 03/24/09 04:06 PM
I had posted a few days back about a kitty that I found outside my home. It got me to thinking about the home my clients are purchasing. The sellers have a dog named Rocket. Poor puppers, he is more like the first Sputnik, not a rocket! He is 17 years old, very deaf, probably not seeing as well as he used to, and to be honest, has a bladder control problem.
While doing inspections, poor Rocket had an accident right in front of us on the rug. My clients were very understanding, Mrs. went under the sink to find something … (19 comments)

The Other Foreclosures - 03/22/09 06:46 AM
Julia Vakulenko and Tampa4u Team from Florida has written a fantastic post about foreclosure, the information is timely for people all over the United States. Thank you Julia, I hope the people who need to read this do read this.
Via Affordable Homes in Florida (Winter Home in Florida):
It’s a situation facing hundreds upon thousands of people and the numbers are growing rapidly. Foreclosures aren’t just happening to people who have over spent and got into risky loans. They are happening to homeowners who are getting divorced, facing health issues, needing to relocate for a job, and numerous other reasons. Regardless of … (2 comments)

Bulls Bridge in Kent, Connecticut - 03/21/09 03:17 PM
Spring has arrived! The trees have a tinge of color to them where the buds are just starting to come out. The grass is turning green, you can smell spring in the air, finally. Good time to go out and work on the yard, or take a walk. Today I went to Bulls Bridge to take some pictures. It was sweatshirt weather, almost jacket weather too, but walking along the trails at a brisk pace helped. I only wish you could hear the thunder of the water as it rushed on by!

The Metrowest Massachusetts Real Estate Market What Does The Future Hold - 03/20/09 10:13 AM

Small fixes that optimize selling price - 03/17/09 05:54 PM
I ran across this post by Mr. Handyman. He is so right, in a tough market these are a must, not an option!

Via Glenn Berkwitt (Mr. Handyman of Seattle):
We keep hearing how tough it is to sell a house in these tough economic times but a few simple improvements and repairs to a house can make a great initial impression when it first goes on the market. Oftentimes these improvements are inexpensive but they inevitably boost the aesthetic appeal of the property and its asking price.
At Mr. Handyman of Seattle, we are frequently asked to help with lists of such tasks, … (9 comments)

I am not, however new to the internet. But, this is mind boggling to me.

A wonderful Irish Toast for all of my friends on St. Patrick's Day.
As you slide down the banisters of life may the splinters never point the wrong way.
Have lots of corned beef and cabbage, plenty of green beer, and whatever you do, have your cake and eat it too! And I hope you wear your green as well as my grandson does!

Sunrise over the Ridge, looking for photo storage ideas now. - 03/14/09 02:42 PM
I really thought I had lost all my photographs, or at least thought it would be a real hassle to find them. They were stuck inside an old computer that would not turn on anymore. The hard drive had been taken out of a few different computers already, so there were years of "stuff" on this particular hard drive. I always put 2 hard drives in my computers, one only for storage. Long story short, I rescued my old pictures, the hard drive is safe, and I am happy!
There are so many storage ideas for pictures out there, I now … (8 comments)

Great Photo Day - 03/08/09 04:21 PM
What a beautiful day it was today! After farm chores, and before I took clients out I took the dog and the camera and took pictures of my favorite places. You can just see some green starting, and the multiflora rose branches have a red hue to them. Soon we will have buds and flowers. As you can see, I love barns.

On Courage and Perseverence, a quote - 03/07/09 01:48 PM
Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.  John Quincy Adams
I love this quote. I believe Mr. Adams was correct in his assessment. If we all have the courage to face what it ahead of us, and the perseverence to stay the course, then we shall certainly set right what is wrong.

Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place.  Mark Twain
Smart man Mr. Twain. We all need more humor in our lives, makes us live longer, healthier lives. Makes those around us appreciate us more! I think it just makes a for a better day, all the way around. Take a moment to laugh, to smile, to think about something that made you feel warm inside. The Wrangler Club - 03/04/09 06:38 PM
I drive a Jeep Wrangler. Fun little thing, not so practical for shopping, driving clients around, having my grandson in the car. Truth be told, not practical at all, just loads of fun. If I am driving clients I use another car. The is a rag top, during the hot weather I take the windows out all the way around, it's like driving with an umbrella over my head. It really is a lot of fun.
The first day I drove it I noticed everyone that passed me driving a Wrangler waved at me. Very strange. At first I thought maybe I … (6 comments)

Home Staging - 03/04/09 03:52 PM
Here in the north-western corner of Connecticut home staging has not caught on. I am not sure why though. Every time I mention that I am a realtor, people start talking about all those shows on TV about getting your home ready to sell. They LOVE those shows. Isn't it amazing how different the before and after is, or comment how quickly the house sold after it was staged.
Now I don't know about you, but for my money I would want to get those same results if I was selling my home. I would want to sell quickly and for … (4 comments)

A wise (wo)man - 03/04/09 02:00 PM
A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds. - Sir Francis Bacon, 1561-1626
This is something we all need to focus on, no matter what we do in life. As realtors we should be making our own opportunities for work. I can think of a few here in the Rain that have done just that in very unique ways!
We also create opportunities for others while making them for ourselves. Selling a home certainly creates opportunities for the seller, buyer, mortgage banker, buyers agent, sellers agent, home inspector, attorney, on and on. Passing the story on as to how you … (0 comments)

What a difference a day makes - 03/02/09 08:00 AM
Typical New England... I was dreaming of starting my garden, I am planning a new one this year, just under the apple tree, in memory of one of our cats. However, today it seems like a million years away!

I ventured around the house to get a few more shots. I have said before, I love taking photos of the snow, but I am here to say, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring!

It's like having a baby! - 03/01/09 12:28 PM
I put an offer in on a house yesterday for my clients, just about 24 hours ago. I was hoping to be negotiating last night, with the deal on it's way to being sealed today. HA! Silly me.
As a parallel, I am also waiting for a calf to be born. Mom is more than ready, for a few days now she has been moaning and groaning, looking like today is the day. This morning she laid down, and looked at me like... GET THIS THING OUTTA ME!
Hmmm.... I guess I just have to be more patient, on both counts. … (0 comments)
