Short Sales is a not a recent selling strategy but it is one that was rarely used when Real Estate Values were increasing - In todays Real Estate Market, many sellers are faced with a problem - they owe more on their home or condo then it will sell for in the current Real Estate market.  If their lien holder agrees to accept as payment in full an amount that is less than the amount owed - the home or condo is sold as a Short Sale.

New Buying Strategy - Short Sales - 02/04/09 08:22 AM
Once upon a time, sellers would offer homes, condos and townhomes for sale at a price to cover the money they owed on the property.  Short Sales were rarely used to market property.
Times have changed:   The number of homes and condos offered for sale as a Short Sale have dramatically increased.  Today, both sellers and their lien holders are using this new strategy of sell real estate when the seller owes more on the property than it can be sold for. The lien holder accepts as payment in full an amount that is less than what is owed on the property.
