After the feast many of us had yesterday, and the Black Friday madness that others partook in last night/this morning, many real estate professionals will not be thinking about social media today. I say it is the perfect time to go against the grain and do a bit of Facebook zig-zagging. Since many consumers will be off work and potentially online, it is a great opportunity to get our brand in front of our existing fan-base and new local clients as well.

I feel like the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland this week. I haven't been late for anything but I have been scurrying to and fro with plenty of real estate activity to wear me out. Add in all the online "stuff", new marketing materials being designed, family fun, holiday prepping, and this girl is plumb tired. Today is the first slow day since I can remember and I am taking advantage of it by doing as little as possible. ;-)

It has been a very busy week in social media with new starts like TSU gaining a bit of momentum and positive press and several other sites updating and/or providing new features. Facebook joined in with a new video project (see the links below), user setting updates for news feeds, and even boasting its Messenger App is getting 500 million user each month. Wow! It is good to see the demise of FB (as predicted by "experts" last year) was more fiction than fact. ;-)

This week I spent some quality time walking on my social media tightrope. I was focused and made sure I took time every day to give one of my main SM sites some attention. On "Facebook day" I made some long overdue updates to my profile, caught up with comments, spent 30 minutes engaging in the local groups I am a part of (I HIGHLY encourage you to join local FB groups that interest you), and boosted one of my WP blogs ($20). I get it. Using Facebook as part of a social media plan is not in the cards for some. Another crazy real estate week that unfortunately left precious little time for social media, of any kind. Weeks like this are bittersweet! I love being busy helping clients but am quick to attribute some of that success to having a consistent presence on Facebook and other SM sites. Talk about great timing! Bill Gassett asked me recently to do a guest post on his MassRealEstateNews WP site and I jumped at the opportunity. As is my norm, I then shared the content on several social media sites, including my FB Fan Page. A few days later I promoted that content via Facebook and ended up picking up an out-of-town buyer who read the post via their FB news feed.
