Labor Day was established as a federal holiday in 1894. As we head into the holiday weekend here are a few facts to consider while celebrating the occasion. Virginia School Report Cards - 08/28/08 09:06 PM
Well it's that time of the year again when yellow buses roam the streets and parents sigh in secret relief knowing they won't have to hear "I'm bored" all day long. Yes, it's back to school time! On August 27th the Virginia Department of Education updated the Virginia School Report Cards. The reports contain information on proficiencies in reading and math, participation in testing, attendance and graduation rates. The Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals have become a little tougher since the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. By 2014 all students are expected to pass the reading and math

If Real Estate was an Olympic Event, Where Would You Place? - 08/18/08 11:45 PM
I'm not a huge fan of the Olympics but I do like to watch a few events -gymnastics, volleyball and of course figure skating. But this year my focus, like many others, has been on men's swimming, specifically Michael Phelps. Of course we all know by now that he has succeeded in winning 8 gold medals and setting 7 world records (and if you don't, where have you been?). However the event that stands out most in my mind is the one where he won his 7th gold medal - the 100m butterfly. If you haven't seen the race, go see

2008 has been a real roller coaster year so far. I started off with a great hopes and ambitions, pumped up from the positive and encourage messages of David Liniger (RE/MAX Co-Founder and Chairman) as well as the take charge mentality instilled by the Brian Buffini program. I guess I was being a little too cocky because Fate stepped in with a one-two punch and knocked me flat on my rear. And just in case I didn't get the message, Fate switched over to WWF mode and hit me upside the head with a folding chair. When the mortgage crisis/housing market
