On my blog you'll find tons of good Real Estate Information, Local Area Events, Market Statistics, Neighborhood Information, School Updates, Local Charity Events, Upcoming Workshops, Information about Local Business Partners and occasionally posts just for fun! en-us http://activerain.com/blogsview/3737744/customer-service-is-that-darn-important- <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong>Customer Service is ....that darn important!</strong></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong>I've been a big believer in excellent customer service ever since I was a young girl.&nbsp;</strong> Both my parents taught us kids&nbsp;that it's better to do it right the first time&nbsp;and also&nbsp;to&nbsp;go above and beyond in what we're doing&nbsp;and exceed the&nbsp;expected outcome.&nbsp; That was true in school and our first jobs - as it is to this day.&nbsp; Clients continue to come back to us year after year&nbsp;because they know they can expect to receive the highest level of service from us.&nbsp; I also think it's good to know how people feel about our level of service which always arrives in the form of a testimony or thank you card.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong><img title="Customer Service" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/6/9/1/4/8/ar136944126784196.jpg" height="344" alt="Exceeding Expectations" width="315" style="margin: 10px; border: 4px solid black; float: left;">Today I received the worst service from a store and if it weren't so comical to me I'd&nbsp;would have been&nbsp;upset.&nbsp;</strong> And... it should have been no big deal but the <strong>gal behind the counter said the 'computer' was in charge - not her.</strong> Really?&nbsp; I found that really interesting that she couldn't make a simple situation right.&nbsp; Simply put I purchased 6&nbsp;bags of peppercorns thinking I needed that many to fill up my pepper mill (yes I know you'd think I had a gigantic pepper mill)!! As it turned out I didn't even need two bags so I decided to bring the other 4 back as it would take years to use them all up and by then we figured they'd get stale.&nbsp; Granted I'm not a pepper expect but it kind of made sense to me at the time.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;">Off I trotted to the store as I also intended to buy some other fun&nbsp;patio things there as well and was excited about finding some treasures. I turned in the extra pepper bags first, only to find out the 'computer' would only credit me back for 2 bags. Huh?<strong>&nbsp; I said - oh there must be a glitch in the program.</strong>&nbsp; The gal says - No - there is&nbsp;no glitch, you only get credit for 2 bags.&nbsp; Ahhh? Huh?&nbsp; She then says I must not have noticed that for every 2 bags I purchased I got 1 free and I was only charged for 4 bags of pepper ( No I hadn't noticed that ).&nbsp;Ok I said then I guess I still have&nbsp;a free one coming to me. <strong>No she says - you don't get a free bag of pepper!!!&nbsp;</strong> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong>Are you getting confused yet? </strong> She tells me she can't do anything about the 2 bags I used at my house but I don't get a free bag.&nbsp; Then she begins to tell me she is not going to argue with me!!&nbsp; What?&nbsp; I was just wondering why if I kept and paid for 2 bags of pepper I don't get the free one you told me about?&nbsp; At that point&nbsp;she was getting a bit crazed&nbsp;and I really didn't have the time to deal with this gal.&nbsp;I asked calmly,&nbsp;please just refund me what you think is right&nbsp;as I must get back to work. </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;">She got even huffier and said she didn't want to lose her job over this.&nbsp;&nbsp; WHAT?&nbsp; I politely asked her why would you lose your job over a bag of pepper?&nbsp; (You see - it does sounds really nuts, doesn't it).&nbsp;<strong>I figured this gal was having a really bad day and I just wanted to get out of the energy of her - as fast as possible.</strong>&nbsp; She then ends up refunding me for another bag which I didn't ask for and over rode the computer that controlled her at first. Well, she<img title="How NOT to sell or influence people" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/6/6/4/2/0/ar136909476902466.JPG" height="300" alt="Taking a concious path of excellence" width="400" style="margin: 10px; border: 2px solid black; float: right;"> said, Anna sets her advertising budget&nbsp;at the end of each year for the next year&nbsp;so I'm quite sure she's on course for her plan of action for this year. <strong>He didn't like that answer so he thought going on the attack would be a smarter&nbsp;path to take.</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;Sure, you betcha, one always captures a new client&nbsp;by attacking them.&nbsp;Seriously, who is training these people or rather not training them?</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;">The guy&nbsp;says - well doesn't she know this is the biggest, greatest real estate&nbsp;blah blah and she's 100% missing the boat if she doesn't go with us. If she wants to be successful she needs to get with the best&nbsp;program.&nbsp;She needs to talk with me right away and go with us.&nbsp;Will you please connect me with her now!!!!!!</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;">REALLY - she's thinking - OMG not a chance in heck are you getting through with this type of attitude.&nbsp; And trust me this isn't the first incompetent salesperson to call the office over the years. </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;">She says to the <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">salesperson</span>&nbsp;guy, I am&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 12px;">quite certain that Anna </span><span style="font-size: 12px;">as the owner and broker of the company with 24 years of business experience she knows what she's doing.&nbsp; It is evident that in the beginning of the <strong>Real Estate boom</strong>, most of the <strong>transactions</strong> were the <strong>Normal</strong> type. &nbsp;This was <strong>consistent</strong> throughout <strong>2008</strong> in <strong>Real Estate sales</strong>, mainly because homes were not selling and executives in the business world needed to figure out how to re-start the engine on this Real Estate machine. &nbsp;</p> <p>In <strong>April 2008</strong>, there were a lot of <strong>REO (Bank-owned) transactions</strong>, which makes sense - most of the <strong>people</strong> who had <strong>difficulty </strong>paying their <strong>mortgages</strong> ran through the <strong>cycle</strong> and&nbsp;the <strong>bank</strong> just <strong>foreclosed</strong> on the property. &nbsp;The <strong>lenders</strong> had to get these <strong>homes occupied</strong> and<strong> back in the system</strong>, as the <strong>longer</strong> they allowed <strong>unoccupied</strong> homes, the more <strong>money</strong> that the banks were <strong>losing</strong> on a <strong>daily</strong> basis.</p> <p>During the most <strong>difficult times</strong> in our economic downturn, the <strong>Real Estate market</strong> survived because of the <strong>Short-sale transaction type</strong>. &nbsp;<strong>Lenders</strong> found that they were able to get <strong>homes back</strong> on the <strong>market</strong> for whatever the home was worth (which was <strong>not very much</strong> about <strong>5 years ago</strong> - however, the <strong>Real Estate market</strong> has almost <strong>bounced</strong> back to a <strong>normal</strong> price <strong>range</strong>). &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Fast forward to<strong> April 2013</strong> and you will find evidence of <strong>improvements</strong> in the <strong>Real Estate market</strong>. &nbsp;The <strong>market</strong> is <strong>experiencing</strong> the sales<strong> success rate</strong> that it did in<strong> April 2003</strong> - even though the <strong>market</strong> is<strong> not&nbsp; then <strong>adding</strong> all of the<strong> total quotients</strong> of all the homes sold during a specified time frame <strong>divided</strong> by the <strong>number of homes</strong> that <strong>sold</strong> in that time period gives the <strong>average per square foot</strong>. &nbsp;Then by the<strong> number of homes</strong> that sold within that<strong> time frame</strong> -giving the numeric <strong>quantity</strong> of what <strong>1-square foot</strong> of a <strong>home</strong> is selling for. &nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: left;">The <strong>chart</strong> below <strong>indicates</strong> that we have been on a <strong>steady increase</strong>, most recently since <strong>August 2012</strong> - but, consistently <strong>December 2011</strong>. We have the perfect home for&nbsp;entertaining both inside and out! There are many little areas that groups of people can gather and enjoy good food and great conversations - and&nbsp;in intimate small group settings.&nbsp;We&nbsp;also gather everyone together&nbsp;at some point during the evening for&nbsp;network announcements.&nbsp;There are many folks that used to attend for years when we hosted it previously&nbsp;and we've added on a new group of folks that bring new fun to the group. My vision is for the group to grow to about 50 regulars - maybe 60 tops! font-size: 12px;"><strong>Multi-tasking creates&nbsp;more chaos - This is ONE THING I know for sure!</strong></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong><a href="http://activerain.com/blogsview/3695456/the-one-thing-challenge-the-surprisingly-simple-truth-behind-extraordinary-results" title="The One Thing Challenge" target="_blank">The One Thing Challenge</a> has been an interesting one for me and many others here on ActiveRain!</strong> I read chapter 5 about <strong>multi-tasking</strong> and immediately knew my thoughts about how it works or rather doesn't work for me. I also read chapter 7 about the authors&nbsp;thoughts on <strong>willpower&nbsp;</strong>and many others thoughts&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;various studies&nbsp;on willpower -&nbsp;of which my perspective and experience is vastly different - more on that one later!&nbsp;&nbsp;Both chapters&nbsp;brought back&nbsp;memories&nbsp;of being&nbsp;back in college working on a thesis and going through study after study attempting to create a new mind boggling paper with awesome&nbsp;results. </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong><img title="How to be a 100% focused Super Woman/Man" src="http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/9/5/4/5/0/ar136728235905459.jpg" height="328" alt="Focus Power" width="286" style="margin: 15px; float: left;">Multi-tasking is a waste of time.</strong> It simply is!&nbsp; I have been teaching this for many years and it astounds me that there are so many people - and even more so in today's online, fast-paced&nbsp;world that just don't get that multi-tasking creates less not more.&nbsp; The younger the age the more I see them attempt to multi-task and defend their position or say to me&nbsp;- your so old-fashioned! Which is really&nbsp;not the issue!&nbsp; </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;">When I'm teaching a CE class&nbsp;some&nbsp;students are&nbsp;using their iphone, ipads etc&nbsp;- and time after time I&nbsp;encourage them to <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Be Here Now</span> and why that is so&nbsp;important.</strong>&nbsp;If they're taking notes that's fine by me (I do the same thing) but if they're texting, reading emails or going online that has to end.&nbsp;I've a fun little game that I play with them to show them what happens when they 'focus' their minds.&nbsp; It&nbsp;usually blows them away when the begin to see the power of focus and the energy it creates. It's quite fun to see the lights come on in their eyes, faces and smiles!</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong>Here's what I know to be true about multi-tasking.&nbsp;</strong> If one is working on a project and stays involved and engaged it doesn't take use up&nbsp;as much time and focus to finish the task at hand. In fact it is&nbsp;usually quite invigorating and exciting and&nbsp;makes one feel great! On the other&nbsp;hand&nbsp;if one is&nbsp;continually interrupted by phone calls, texts or other social media messages (and we all know this is going on all day long) by the time one goes back to the project they have to remember where they left off and perhaps won't remember most of what they had been working on. Of course this&nbsp;will&nbsp;force them to use up&nbsp;a lot more time and energy to finally finish the task&nbsp;- if they even finish it. And from that point some people will start&nbsp;with the&nbsp;negative self-talk.&nbsp; They start&nbsp;asking themselves&nbsp;how could they 'not have gotten that done'&nbsp;and the&nbsp;spiral down that long journey begins.&nbsp;Why they're not successful, why this, why that,&nbsp;blah blah blah and the cycle goes on and on and on. Enough already I say! Approach it differently and have more fun!</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 12px;"><strong>To end on a positive note</strong> - if you're a multi-tasker I challenge you to take a few hours every morning and work on one project or&nbsp;task at a time. Turn off your pbone, your email etc&nbsp;and stay 100% focused.&nbsp; <strong>100% focused no matter what -&nbsp;on the project at -&nbsp;hand in the moment.</strong>&nbsp; I guarantee that you will discover a real difference in both your accomplished tasks getting done 'effortlessly' plus your energy and attitude will be more excited and enthusiastic. Well that's a longer story but to keep it short we ran into a few plumbing issues while remodeling to enlarge my master closet.&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Not knowing what to do I called </strong></span><strong><a href="http://activerain.com/shaken" title="Roger Mucci" target="_blank">Roger Mucci</a></strong></p> <p>He and I talked and emailed back and forth for a couple of weeks on how to solve my storage issue and what to do about the plumbing problem in the middle of the wall.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We decided that instead of enlarging my master closet that we'd simply install a new, much more efficient organizing closet system. And by George it's amazing how much storage I have now and in fact, more than I need.&nbsp; Did I just say that?&nbsp; What is wrong with me!!!&nbsp; We then went on to re-organize all the closets in the entire house and it's so awesome I can't believe it.&nbsp; Why it took me 15 years to figure this out I have no idea.&nbsp;It took Roger about 15 minutes of talking with me to get my head on straight and see the possibilities! <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a href="http://activerain.com/shaken" title="Roger Mucci" target="_blank"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>Roger Mucci&nbsp;is my hero&nbsp; big time!</strong></span></a></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Today I had to laugh because it was my 3rd time <span style="text-decoration: underline;">this week</span> stopping at the Container Store</strong> <strong>in Scottsdale on my way to and from meetings.&nbsp;</strong> It's a little scary that I had to admit to the sales clerk that I was now addicted to their store. In fact it's my favorite store!&nbsp; She was delighted to hear that as was the whole team..... that probably thinks I'm a bit 'analytical' after seeing me comb through the isles time after time for just the right organizing piece of the puzzle!&nbsp;
