Earlier in the month she won a trophy for her solo in the Alabama Dance Championship.
 
This week she found out that her classmates selected her as Best All Around in the 8th grade "Who's Who" at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School.  We are so proud of her!

Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Dance Team Wins Trophies at the Alabama Dance Championship!
 
I spent much of Saturday, January 9th at Spain Park High School to see Molly and the Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Dance Team compete in the 2010 Alabama Dance Championship.  They did an awesome job!  Schools came from around the state to compete......there were so many talented dancers.  Lots of fun!
 
Molly won 5th Place in the Junior High Soloist Division!
 
She was very surprised and excited, and her family and friends are so proud of her!

An Entertaining Little Guy Was Outside My Window.....
 
I got to my office bright and early Friday so I could check emails and spend a little time on ActiveRain and Facebook before settling in to make some phone calls later in the morning.  Sitting at my desk I have a great view of all that is going on outside.  This busy little squirrel was a lot of fun to watch as he dug for nuts and enjoyed some playtime and breakfast.

My friend, Andrea Hubbert, shared this on Facebook today.......it is so beautiful and moving! Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist that won Ukraine's Got Talent 2009. She uses a light box and sand to tell her interpretation of the invasion of the Ukraine by Germany during WWII. It left me speechless and I think you will love it too! The video is a little over eight minutes, but it is worth every second!

I've been looking for something to post about while trying to embed a video that I took with my Flip camera. On Saturday evening, January 9th, a home on Tulip Poplar Drive in the Riverchase community of Hoover AL caught fire and burned.
 
A friend of mine lives on the street below and behind this house.  He had been out to dinner, returning to find his neighbors' home in flames and water pouring down the hill between their homes as the firemen worked to extinguish the fire.  By this time it had been burning about an hour.  When the fire started, a couple of neighbors heard an explosion … (13 comments)

DOG MISSING IN CRESTWOOD HAS BEEN FOUND!
 
 
Buck, the male Golden Retriever that went missing Saturday, January 9th from the Crestline/Crestwood area is home! 
 
The below freezing temperatures we have been experiencing had given his owners even more reason than usual to be concerned for his health and safety, but I am happy to report that Buck is safe and sound, reunited with his family again!

In Birmingham we don't usually have below freezing temperatures for days on end.  There are those days every once in a while when we have to be careful about icy patches on the roads and interstate bridges, but these often melt as the sun comes out or the temperature rises during the daytime.  We've been freezing our butts off this week!
 
The fountain at the Chase Corporate Center (where my office is located) has been frozen like this since at least Monday.........that was the day I took this photo and so far I've … (15 comments)

Coventry Carol is a hauntingly beautiful Christmas carol from 16th Century England. It is believed to have been performed in a medieval nativity play, The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors. After learning of the birth of the newborn King of the Jews from Kings of the East, Herod ordered the deaths of male children under two years old in an effort to save his throne. Yesterday I received a package in the mail......it was from Eleanor Thorne in Raleigh NC.  I went to REBarCamp RDU in November and had the pleasure of meeting Eleanor and lots of other friends from ActiveRain.  It was so much fun and was a huge success thanks to Eleanor's leadership, along with many others who helped her plan the event.
