31 days of may challenge: LIGHTNING BUGS ARE FLASHERS! - 05/31/11 03:54 AM

LIGHTNING BUGS ARE FLASHERS!

It must be summer.....lightning bugs are everywhere!  I have vivid memories of them on summer evenings when I was a kid.  We lived in an area that had plenty of trees and it seemed like there were millions of them!  As the sun began to go down you would begin to see them rising up out of the grass and then a flash here and there....and more and more of a light show as it got darker.  We had mayonnaise jars with holes punched in the tops so we could catch some of these poor … (9 comments)

31 days of may challenge: I'll Dig In The Dirt For Birmingham Home Sellers! - 05/23/11 09:28 AM

I'll Dig In The Dirt For Birmingham Home Sellers!

I did it today!  Did I plant flowers to add a little color for increased curb appeal?  Nope!  I dug a little hole and buried a St. Joseph statue in their yard.  This is not part of my usual marketing strategy, but these homeowners (who are currently in another state) asked if I would do this for them.  I told them I'd be glad to and set out to find out just what needed to be done.  The tradition of burying a St. Joseph statue is a centuries … (8 comments)

31 days of may challenge: Every Day Is A Gift! - 05/22/11 07:46 AM

Well, so much for the world coming to an end yesterday.  Personally, I can't imagine we are going to have advance notice of the Rapture, but I don't want to get left behind when that day comes!  In the meantime I'm going to enjoy the gift of living in this amazing world that God has created.  Today I woke to find I had been blessed with yet another day on earth......no matter what kind of difficulties I face, it is great to be alive.  Life is precious and there are no guarantees we will be here tomorrow.  Every day we … (14 comments)

I'm still here.  Looks like I missed the Rapture, or is that supposed to be later today? Maybe I still have a chance.  Well, in any case, it's a beautiful day and I feel fine!  Enjoy a little R.E.M. today if you are still here too!

WHAT MODEL YEAR IS THIS OLD FIRE TRUCK?

One of daughter's neighbors is a firefighter for the City of Trussville, and while I was visiting her family the other day he drove up pulling this beautiful old fire truck and I was lucky to have my camera with me.

It's a Dodge but I don't know what year it is.....I'm thinking 1940's.  Does anybody know?

What a wild, crazy busy week it has been!  Showings, meeting with new buyers and getting them prequalified, writing offers, receiving offers.....this is the busiest I've been a while!

It's been great, but even better was that I was able to get away from it all for a little while to go spend time with my grandkids and granddogs at their house yesterday.

I had so much fun with them and they put up with me taking a bunch of photographs.  Here are a few of them.  That's Molly and Richard, and then Zoë is the little Yorkie … (9 comments)

I DID NOT POST THAT ON YOUR FACEBOOK WALL!

In the last few days I've been seeing these things posted on the walls of a bunch of my Facebook friends and now I'm getting them too......from friends that NEVER post on my wall so why would they send me this?  I also got tagged in a post yesterday.  It was one of those where you can see who is viewing your wall/profile the most and how many times they've viewed it.  It claimed I had viewed this person 42 times and I didn't even know who this person was. … (10 comments)

ONE STUDENT'S ACCOUNT OF TORNADO TERROR IN TUSCALOOSA AL

Randy Robbins, a student at the University of Alabama, has written an account of his experience when a monster tornado blew through Tuscaloosa on April 27th.  When I look at the photos of obliterated property and landscapes it is amazing how someone can survive a direct hit of something as powerful as that.  Randy did, but his story is terrifying.  It's riveting, a little long but worth it.  He includes photos of his injuries and what is left of his apartment complex and everything nearby.  I believe you will have … (5 comments)
