No I am not psychic. The reason I know this is going to happen is because I am participating in the Lockup for MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association). Several people from my office are participating. We get "arrested". Jail is La Fiesta, a great local Mexican restuarant. They serve us lunch, then we have to raise "bail", donationS for MDA. They have set our goal at $1600 a person. My husband and I (and our son) all love to read, so one of the things we usuallyt do on Sunday afternoons is go to the bookstore. While loking through people magazine today, I saw a 2 page spread about the Church Under the Bridge, complete with pictures. In case you have never heard of th Church Under the Bridge, let me give you the history. In the early 1990's a lot of homeless people were living under the overpass at I-35 and 4th street here in Waco. That intersection is the main entrance to Baylor University. waco: 78 dogs seized from local puppy mill! - 05/07/09 10:33 AM
If you follow my blog, you know I am an animal lover and donate a percentage of my real estate commissions to Fuzzy Friends Animal Rescue, a no kill shelter here in Waco Texas. You should therefore not be surprised at my reaction to the front-page story in Tuesdays Waco Tribune Herald. I was saddened, mad and incredulous at the same time. Local law enforcement raided a home in Elm Mott, a small town about 30 miles outside Waco and seized 78 dogs from a puppy mill. There were 5 to 6 dogs crammed together in rabbit cages, filthy, hungry and (3 comments)
waco: Agents, BE CAREFUL. This could have been any one of us! An update - 01/12/09 05:45 PM
For those of you who didn't read my blog posted June 27th of last year, let me give you a quick background. Last June a Realtor in Whitney, a small town about 30 minutes outside of Waco Texas, got a call from a man. He said his parents had both passed away and he wanted her to come list their house. When she got there he attacked her ( there were conflicting reports on whether she was raped or not). He tied her up, took her to his house a few miles down the road and called her family with a ransom demand. (3 comments)
waco: This gives a whole new meaning to " the straight poop"! - 01/07/09 02:50 PM
While reading my Sunday edition of my local paper, the Waco Tribune Herald, I came across a small article in the business section that made me do a double take. It seems a man here in good old Waco, Texas, has started a new company called Cen-Tex P.A.W.S, short for Professional Animal Waste Services. For $11 dollars a week they will come to your house and scoop doggie poop from your yard! Or 2 visits a week for $18. They are already doing business in the nearby towns of Temple, Belton and Killeen and business was so good they are expanding in (3 comments)
Almost three weeks ago I sold a house ( I was the buyers agent). I donate 10 % of my commissions to Fuzzy Friends Animal Rescue, a no kill animal shelter here in Waco Texas you might have read about before in my blog. The next afternoon I was at Fuzzy Friends dutifully making my donation when a couple came in with a 3 month old puppy, a black Lab mix. Someone had dumped her in front of their house, but they had 2 Pit Bulls who would hurt her so they couldn't keep her. Fuzzy Friends was full and (16 comments)

waco: Hey! Can you speak Spanish? - 04/16/08 01:28 PM
In November of 2006, when I was close to completing the course work for my real estate license, I began interviewing at different agencies. When I came in to the office where I currently work , Century 21 Towne Adams in Waco Texas, the first question he asked me is " Can you speak Spanish?". Regretfully, I do not. My high school did not offer any foreign languages. When I started college I tried Spanish, but dropped it after two weeks because it was obvious I was not going to pass it. Next I tried German, with the same result. On the advice of a very (1 comments)
