flagstaff events: US GreenBuild Conference -- Don't Overlook Flagstaff! - 11/08/09 06:28 AM

The US Green Building Council's annual international meeting convenes in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday, featuring a keynote address by former Vice-President Al Gore. Amid all that hoopla, as my elder relatives might have said, you could miss the best part: The post-conference package offer to visit Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon and sights along the way.
Don't miss it! I wish I could be here to greet you (well, that's almost true -- I am looking forward to my vacation).

Ann's Picks for Things to Do in Flagstaff This Weekend
Look for the Saturday Flagstaff open house tour to be posted late tomorrow or early Saturday morning -- I've got a busy day tomorrow so it may go up late. The area for the tour is the Country Club (Southeast region of Flagstaff).

flagstaff events: Roll Over Chuck Berry - Things to Do in Flagstaff This Weekend - 04/16/09 05:15 PM
Chuck Berry has always been one of my favorite rockers, but I don't agree with the theme of his 1956 hit "Roll Over Beethoven," the premise of which is that rock-n-roll should replace classical music. I think they can co-exist and we have the capacity to enjoy all kinds of music. I love Chuck Berry's stuff, but I also love Beethoven.
Tomorrow night in Flagstaff, there will be a great performance of Beethoven classics by our own Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale.

flagstaff events: Living in Flagstaff Has Its Advantages - 03/06/09 11:15 AM
This will be an interesting, and possibly snowy, weekend in Flagstaff, AZ.  If you are looking for things to do in Flagstaff this weekend, here are some ideas for fun: Flagstaff Events This Weekend.
Flagstaff is also a good place to live because we have an active City government, dedicated to helping the people who live here. They don't always get it right, but in terms on helping homeowners in these tough times, the City of Flagstaff is trying hard. Here's a blog post about mortgage modification scams and some links to legitimate help for homeowners who find themselves in difficulty … (1 comments)

flagstaff events: Fun with the Oscars Tonight in Flagstaff AZ - 02/22/09 04:47 AM
I wonder how many communities get together to watch the Oscars? Tonight, in Flagstaff, at the Coconino Center for the Arts, you can have a lot of fun and help raise money for Flagstaff's local theater company, Theatrikos.
The dress code is Flagstaff Creative. Check out the "gown" that one of my friends wore to the Inaugural Celebration for an example of creative fleece design.

There are several other great things to do in Flagstaff this weekend, including a vocal jazz festival and other fine musical performances. The weather is set to be great, so maybe you'll want to put on your skis and go on a San Francisco … (1 comments)

flagstaff events: Winter Is Coming to Flagstaff -- Things to Do This Weekend in Flagstaff - 12/11/08 02:44 PM
The snow is not here yet -- it was, in fact, warm and beautiful at mid-day today. They say a storm is coming, but in Flagstaff we've learned not to count on the snow until it's actually piled in the driveway. So, my picks for things to do this weekend do not depend on a snowfall. If we get one, add snow-shoeing, cross-country sking, and making snow angels to your list.
Meanwhile, here are Ann's Picks for Things to Do in Flagstaff This Weekend.

flagstaff events: Are You Looking for Things to Do in Flagstaff? - 11/21/08 01:43 AM
Here are a few out-of-the-way events in Flagstaff this weekend, two of them fund-raisers for United Way and, in cooperation with United Way, Flagstaff's Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
If you are not yet a KNAU fan, you should become one. Our local NPR station (which has become not-so-local, with 11 stations throughout Northern Arizona), celebrated its 25th Anniversary at the High Country Conference Center last night. Hundreds of people showed up to hear a brief history of the station from General Manager John Stark, and then an entertaining, and educational, look at the history of NPR's most popular program: Morning Edition by national guests, … (0 comments)

This is a great time to buy a home so that you can enjoy Flagstaff year-round. Right now, we have a home listed that is perfect for bird-watchers, and is currently an alpaca farm! The home is a real log cabin and is everyone's ideal of Flagstaff, with a stream running through … (0 comments)

flagstaff events: Looking for a Traditional County Fair? Look no further than Flagstaff - 08/28/08 11:27 AM
This is a big event -- the 59th Coconino County Fair -- and it's happening in Flagstaff this weekend! The image at the right says it all. Livestock, carnival rides, music, politics and art. (Ok, I'm waiting for the comment asking which candidate is the central picture.)
But the fair is not the only thing happening in Flagstaff this weekend, where we're scheduled to have the best weather in Arizona -- as always! There will be two special art events, including a three-day art and craft fair downtown, and two great musical concerts, on each Sunday and Monday. Heritage Square downtown … (0 comments)

flagstaff events: Things to Do in Flagstaff This Weekend! - 07/31/08 05:37 PM
It's always a great weekend in Flagstaff, and this one will be no exception. There is some rain in the forecast -- probably in the afternoons, so bring some rain gear for outdoor events.
I'm going to be resting up between trips this weekend (and catching up on my real estate work!) so I probably won't be out and about except to do my Saturday morning precinct walk commitment. If I were going to be doing fun things about town this weekend, it would be one of these great Flagstaff events:

flagstaff events: Things to Do in Fabulous Flagstaff This Weekend! - 07/11/08 12:03 PM
There are always too many things for one person to do in Flagstaff during a weekend, but that means that there are things to do to appeal to nearly everyone. Come on up and enjoy summer in the cool mountains of Northern Arizona!
One of Flagstaff's great assets is Northern Arizona University and, for theatre lovers, another wonderful asset is the Theatrikos community theatre company. For three weeks this summer, the NAU drama department and Theatrikos have teamed up for a "town and gown" event that you won't want to miss. Stephen Sondheim's A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To … (2 comments)

The annual Ponderosa Trails Barbeque and Movie starts Saturday at 5:30 in Ponderosa Park, 3875 Wild West Trail, Flagstaff, AZ.

flagstaff events: Looking for the Scoop on the Flagstaff Independence Day Parade? - 07/03/08 04:58 AM
There are over 100 entries in the Flagstaff Independence Day Parade -- who they are is a closely guarded secret, but I've uncovered some and have some intelligent guesses based on past experience with the last 15 years of this great Flagstaff event.
The parade steps off in downtown Flagstaff at 9 a.m. Since there will be over 10,000 people gathered for the event, I recommend getting there early. Then stay downtown for the First Friday Artwalk -- beginning right after the parade!
Here's the info I've put together, including post parade activities:

flagstaff events: 25th Anniversary of KNAU in Flagstaff -- An event in Flagstaff - 06/15/08 07:19 AM
We have a wonderful NPR radio station in Flagstaff, Arizona. This week, I was privileged to attend a small reception with other underwriters and supporters at the station to learn the latest and to celebrate the station's 25th anniversary. (There will be many more celebratory events throughout the year!)
I got to chat with some old acquaintences who work for the station and learned of their coverage of an upcoming event that I had already planned to feature in my blog: Internationally-Acclaimed Speaker Friday Night.  As part of the Flagstaff Exchange Club, I spread the word of this important event in … (0 comments)

flagstaff events: Fun Things to Do In Flagstaff -- Real Estate Week in Review - 04/25/08 01:02 PM
Another week, another Flagstaff home listing. The good news is that there are some offers under negotiation, too. And, we had a closing for a buyer, so those sellers are moving to another home.  Not a bad week for a Flagstaff real estate team, I guess.
The weekend will be busy in Flagstaff. Our community hosts the acclaimed Northern Arizona Book Festival and there are loads of other activities including a kite festival and an Arbor Day celebration at the Arboretum of Flagstaff.  The picture here is from a Birds of Prey demonstration of the sort that will happen at noon … (0 comments)

flagstaff events: This is my day off - maybe? - 04/11/08 06:25 AM
The bug person told me to take the day off. Actually, she told me to take a hike. (?) It's beautiful today, so maybe I'll do that. Later. Right now, I'm blogging. And trying to get price changes. And trying to get roofs fixed. You know -- the life of a real estate agent. (But I'm doing it from my beautiful Flagstaff home instead of from the office.)
The good news is that we have two new, very attractive listings this week: 1460 Fox Hill Road and 555 N. Apollo, and the buyers' agents of Team Heitland are very busy. Tina is at … (4 comments)

flagstaff events: Meanwhile, back in Flagstaff and with the Flagstaff real estate team - 03/07/08 01:58 AM
It's going to be another wonderful weekend in Flagstaff, with great sunny weather.  Bring a jacket and enjoy many great Flagstaff things to do, starting tonight.  While I've been attending the 2008 RE/MAX International Convention in Las Vegas (see my posts here for the last several days), my mortgage blogging partner has been keeping our clients and other blog readers up-to-date on developments in the home loan market.
To learn about the new FHA mortgage limits, and how they apply in Coconino County, to Flagstaff real estate, read Liz Fontanini's post entitled New FHA Mortgage Limits Announced. Once the details of this … (4 comments)
