Real estate transactions for Steamboat Springs and Routt County as reported by the Steamboat Pilot are listed below for May 20 -26, 2011.  As of the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend, pending sales reported by the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors multiple listing service show a consistency of those sales numbers, however the median sale price had dropped to the mid $2ooK level.  I believe that is, in part, due to the market segment that is bank owned being readily absorbed.

Too Big to Fail....the Movie - 05/24/11 11:11 AM
I watched "Too Big to Fail"  (adopted from the book by Andrew Ross Sorkin) last nite on HBO. The film about the financial crisis was well done and gave, yet, another view of what happened and how.
My take away is what began as the government's encouragement of home ownership to everyone ended with Wall Street running amok and selling mortgages to anyone because of money being made by repackaging and securitzing the mortgage debt.
