True confessions...I love meteor showers and other astronomical happenings. The full lunar eclipse Saturday was
 
spectacular even if it occured near dawn and diminished the viewing!

 
Tonite we are treated to the peak of the Geminid meteor shower. In spite of the waning moon, in clear skies, one could see anywhere from 40 to 120 meteors per hour. The Geminids produce the greatest potential for stunning fireballs and were born from a rocky asteroid rather than an icy comet.
