The black in a blackhead isn't dirt. It's dried oil and the skin cells that gather in the opening of hair follicles. The blackhead is simply the whitehead that has opened up due the pressure of the growing mass. The black color is not caused by dirt but by oxidation of the skin’s oils and bits of melanin from dead skin cells. Blackhead is a disease caused by a protozoan parasite, Histomonas meleagridis. It is classified as a flagellate but is one of a few protozoa that likewise have an amoeboid stage.
