This is Traci-Christina's team mate. It is with tremendous sadness to let the AR family know that Christina passed away last night after a long and hard fought battle. Please read below the blog by her friend, Kay. I will update y'all when funeral arrangments are made. Thank you to all of you who were her friend. She will be missed more than words can express.
If you would like to send donations to Relay for Life in memory of Christina the address is:
After battling Ovarian Cancer and three brain tumors, Christina past away last evening. Her battle was long and hard, and she never gave up living and smiling. The people who's lives she touched knows her determination and love for all that is with God's creation. Christina is a true inspiration to people as she always had a smile for everyone. When I first met Christina, I saw her here on Active Rain. It was Spring of 2007, and we were both on the Tennessee front page at 8,000 points. As I began to blog on Active Rain, I would read other's blogs and especially noticed hers. Her content was inspirational and quite informing about our area and interests. Then, after a few weeks, her company closed and remembering that my broker had mentioned wanting to open an office in our neighboring town, I called her...It went something like this..."Hey girl, I know you don't know me, but I know you from Active Rain." We both laughed and the friendship was on. I am so glad she came to work with us and we became friends. During her battle with Ovarian Cancer, she would tell me to spread the word. She wanted women to know that your regular yearly exam (pap smear) does not test for Ovarian Cancer, but only Cervical Cancer. As a fund raiser for her, I remembered her wishes and began to spread the word. I have never felt so good about a cause before. I know if we can reach at least one woman in time, our mission will not be wasted. Bringing together people in love and friendship is who she was as a person. She loved selling Real Estate for that very reason.
Some facts about Ovarian Cancer:
Ovarian Cancer is the fourth leading cause of death among women
A Pap Smear is used to detect Cervical Cancer, not Ovarian Cancer
There is NO consistent and accurate screening test, however, a blood test to determine the level of a tumor called a CA-125 is available.
Only 5-10 percent of Ovarian Cancer is the result of inherited susceptibility gene. Most Ovarian cancers are sporadic, meaning they occur in women who do not have a family history of Ovarian Cancer.
Many people incur these symtoms: Abdominal pressure, bloating, discomfort, nausea, indigestion, or gas, constipation, diarrhea, or frequent urination, abnormal bleeding, unusual fatigue, unexplained weight loss or gain, and shortness of breath. While these symptoms are often acute or intense, they are not silent. Many of us experience these symptoms from time to time, do not be alarmed..It's when they persist or seem unusual that you should see your doctor.
Early recognition is the best way to save lives. Without increased education about Ovarian Cancer, many women and their doctors will continue to ignore or misinterpret the symptoms. Remember, early detection can mean a 90% and over survival rate.
As she departs from this life, I will remember her as she would turn around and giggle, and as she walks away she gives a wink and a smile and says....Later tater....
I dedicate one of my favorite poems to Christina as this reminds me of her individualism and wisdom..
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN..
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
This is Traci again, Christina's friend and teammate.
I need the Activerain family's help. First your prayers. Christina was admitted to Vanderbilt again last night. She has been in pain and having some of the same symptoms recurring she had when the brain tumor was present. Two small tumors have grown. One in the samr place as previous and another behind her eye. The doctors are having a pow wow to decide if they are going to do surgery or brain radiation.
Christina is very positive and ready to fight!
If you would like to send cards her address is:

Or FIRST REALTY CO. 2625 N. MAIN ST. #203 CROSSVILLE, TN 38555
Or any e-mails I can print out and get to her would be great. All of y'all's positive thoughts, cards and e-mails meant so much to her during her previous round with battling cancer and the tumor.
Also, Christina has asked me to represent our office for Relay for Life. I went to the meeting last night and got the packet and information. My schedule is so overloaded right now, but when Christina asked me to do this it has taken top priority. I s/w Kay Bennett (our friend and another activerain blog queen) and Kay is on board to work this event together in honor of Christina and the many other cancer survivors at the relay walk. We are going to try to work on fundraisers and are asking for sponsors for Christina. We are in very high hopes that Christina will be doing the walk in May. We will be their with our sons walking for/with her. We need your help for sponsorship. My little boy gave me his $2 allowance when I told him about the race last night. If y'all would like to Sponsor Christina, please write out a sponsor amount (even $1 helps) to Relay for Life and send to our office:

LIFE I AM THE NEW YEAR
Life I am the new year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time. I am your next chance at the art of living. I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the last twelve months. All that you sought and didn't find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it out with more determination. All the good that you tried for and didn't achieve is mine to grant when you have fewer conflicting desires. All that you dreamed but didn't dare to do, all that you hoped but did not will, all the faith that you claimed but did not have -- these slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose. I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance to Him who said, "behold, I make all things new." I am the new year. -- Author Unknown
Give Home Buyers the Information They Need In today’s market, it can be difficult to attract qualified buyers. Print advertising is an effective way to generate leads—if you give buyers the information they are looking for.
The National Association of Realtors reports that almost all home buyers are interested in three things: the price of the house, the size of the house, and the area where the house is located. These three things are known as the property basics and should be included in your advertising.
Some agents believe that by omitting some or all of the property basics—the price for example—the buyer is forced to call or email for more information. However, with so much available inventory that includes the price already on the Internet, buyers skip over a print ad that does not include it. Also, most buyers have a clear idea of the size house they are looking for, and many buyers know the areas where they prefer to live. By including area and size you also increase your opportunities for qualified leads.
To reap the full benefits of your print advertising, you need to budget not just money, but time. Make sure you reserve part of your schedule to create quality ads. This will ensure that you promote yourself and your listings with professionalism.
I realize that writing ads can be difficult. It’s easy to procrastinate over creating an ad when you have so much else to do. As with most tasks, breaking down the creation of an ad into smaller steps makes the job easier. Here is a seven step process for writing your next ad:
Step One: Describe the Prospect Who is the person or family most likely to buy the property? Is it an executive moving up, a retiree, a first-time homebuyer?
Step Two: Describe the Home Include bedrooms, baths and square footage. Also describe the area. Is the home convenient to work, play, education and recreation?
Step Three: List Features in Order of Importance If proximity to the hospital is the most important feature, then list that first. (i.e., you may want to target market to doctors and nurses.)
Step Four: Create a Headline Other than the photograph, the headline is likely to be the most important component of your print ad. In newspaper classifieds, 60% of readers get no further than the headline. If they don’t like the headline they move on.
How do you create a captivating headline? Take the most important feature and turn it into a benefit. Now this raises an important question – what is the difference between a feature and a benefit? A feature is a fact about the property; a benefit is what’s in it for the buyer. For example, a feature of the house may be that it is relatively inexpensive and affordable for first-time home buyers. The benefit/ headline is: “Buy Your Freedom.” You don’t need to pay rent any more.
The feature of home may be that is a beautiful property in a desirable neighborhood. The benefit/ headline is: “Prestigious Spanish Estate Under The Elms.” In other words the benefit is the status such a lovely home brings to the buyer.
Remember, the feature is the fact; the benefit is what’s in it for the buyer.
Step 5: Write the Body Copy Speak in terms of features and benefits in the copy of your ad. Include the basics: price, size, location. And justify the price. If this is a million dollar property the ad and the photograph need to reflect the value. If you don’t justify the price, how many calls will you get? That’s right—zero. That is why if an agent does not get a response to her ad, the first thing I will do is analyze the ad and see if it justifies the price of the home. Another way of putting it is the ad must illustrate the full value of the home.
Step 6: Include Your Contact Information Make it easy for the prospect to call and email you – and of course include your website address.
Step 7: Edit the Ad Finally, edit the ad. Strike out non-essential words but make sure the ad still sizzles.
By reserving enough time to write your ad and following these seven steps, you’ll create advertising that will help you reach your career and income goals—even in a slow market.
