EarlyAct FirstKnight Video With a 20+ Hands Tall Horse - 06/23/09 03:11 PM
EarlyAct FirstKnight is something I posted about a while ago. It is an ethics and character education program for grades K-8 that also has a community service club component. Part of the implementation is an optional show with costumed war horses and knights in armor. Here is a video I took showing the last few minutes of the show at Lakeway Elementary School. The kids absolutely loved it.

Austin Real Estate Matket Stats Update - 06/23/09 09:28 AM
I just got the weekly email from Alamo Title Co. with stats for the Austin real estate market.  Here they are:
The number of active listings are down 7.38% from last year.The number of new listings are down this week 18.57% (compared to 6/15/08 - 6/21/08).Pendings are up this week 1.05%.Sold residential units are up 4.85% compared to the same week last year.
Units for Sale:
June 14 - June 20, 2009
(compared to the same week in 2008)New listings down this week 18.57%Pendings are up 1.05%Solds up 4.85% As for Average Prices:

Lake Travis is LOW - So Now is a Great Time to Look at Waterfront Homes - 06/22/09 04:49 PM
This is a great time to look at Lake Travis waterfront properties.  Why?  The drought and a low water level.  If someone really wants a Lake Travis waterfront home, he or she will want to know if it will have a boat dock sitting on dry ground during times of drought.   Central Texas has been in an exceptional drought for two years.  The image below will show that.

The next image will show a lot of Lake Travis shoreline that normally is under water.

Middle School Community Service - 06/22/09 09:56 AM
A new community service club was started at Lake Travis Middle School (LTMS) in January.  Sponsored by the Lakeway/Lake Travis Rotary Club, the LTMS club is called EarlyAct.  Similar to Interact at the high school level, which stands for international action, EarlyAct is for younger students.  Students at LTMS this year organized a pet food drive that gathered almost 700 pounds of pet food for a local animal shelter.  Below are the officers and charter members of EarlyAct at LTMS.

Places to Cool Off Around Austin - 06/22/09 09:34 AM

Lake Travis - 63 miles of boating fun.

Hamilton Pool - about 40 minutes west of downtown Austin.

Krause Springs - in Spicewood.  Imagine 32 springs pouring into this Texas swimming hole.

Pedernales Falls State Park - the swimming/wading is below the falls in the river.
