New Phone Number for "Argent Decor - The Store"! Update your files, please! - 06/29/09 10:49 PM
Effective June 29th, 2009, Argent Decor has a new number - 602-774-2294.  I am keeping my "Magic Jack" phone system, as it cost me the equivalent of 1.5 months of service - with less features - from Qwest.  My "expenses" on Magic Jack include buying a corded phone, too.  So Qwest can keep their ridiculously over-priced phone service!
The new phone number will ring to the store, and until it opens, will ring to my desk.

With "Argent Decor - the Store" opening in July, I am beefing up with furniture vendors! 
I found this great one out of LA - Sweet Smiling Home.  Odd name?  Yes.  Unusual furniture?  Also, yes.  Check out their website - they have some really unique lines, as well as many green/recycled furniture pieces, from China, Indonesia, Morocco, and India.
  Naturally, I get wholesale pricing, so if you see anything you like, just let me know....

I submitted an application with photos of my work and some of my design philosophies to Kirkland's, as they were looking for a Designer Panel - here's the e-mail I just received!:First of all, congratulations!  Out of more than 100 applicants, you have been selected as a finalist for our new designer panel!

What can I say...?  I'm a sucker for info-mercials!
Have you seen - or tried - Magic Jack yet?  It's basically a $40 USB set up that allows you to call long distance, internationally, etc, unlimited, for free your first year.  You plug a jobby into your USB, and a phone into your jobby.  It includes free voice mail, call waiting, caller ID too!  After learning those greedy guys down at Qwest wanted $60mo for a phone line - when I get the same services from Cox at home for $28/mo - I decided to look at alternates.  Unfortunately, my new building is … (3 comments)

A brand new car wash business has opened on 44th Street, just north of McDowell, called Clean Freak Car Wash.  They are doing a special promo for their Grand Opening - $15.99 a month for UNLIMITED washes!  So all you OCD clean-car people out there have an affordable option!
Don't procrastinate, though - it is only valid for the first 500 customers to sign up for it, and as of 7:45PM on June 23rd, only 210 remained!
This is a great location, too - just minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, the 202 freeway, Scottsdale, Tempe....

Furniture brands - what's your favorite? Trying to decide who to carry at my store! - 06/21/09 12:28 PM
With the new storefront coming soon to Old Town Scottsdale, I will be able to carry a few more brands of furniture - so now, my dilemma is, "Which ones..?!?!".  I have limited floor/display space, but can carry a few more that have stricter retail requirements.  If it's not on the showroom floor, I can still order from their wholesale catalogs, though!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! How are you celebrating? - 06/21/09 11:26 AM
My dad is in Grand Rapids, MI, enjoying the fact that my mom went to visit HER dad, thus leaving him alone at the house to watch the Tigers in his underwear.  It stinks that my parents don't live here, but as soon as they can sell their house (HA!) they will move to Phoenix - especially since my sister is pregnant w/baby #2 out here.
So without MY dad here, I'm going to the future in-laws' for a bbq - I heard something about steak on the grill, and cold beers by the pool.  Sounds like a plan to me!

RESTAURANT RAVE: Roaring Fork, Scottsdale AZ - 06/20/09 01:05 AM
On the side - and for fun - my fiance and I do restaurant shops.  We've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly so far as food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness, you name it!  We hardly ever go out "just to go out" any more, as I get 1-2 restaurant shops per wk.
Tonight, one of our very good "couple" friends were free, which is a rarity, as she works nights.  She suggested "Roaring Fork" just north of Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.  None of us had been before, but she had heard great things.

E-mail inquiry "auto-reply" - do you use it? If no, why not? - 06/18/09 11:40 AM
I have spent the morning so far sending e-mails to agents that work with Canadian buyers, introducing myself and my services.  I would estimate I've sent approximately 40 e-mails, and only 2 of them had "auto-reply" e-mails sent to me.
Are you using an auto-reply function for e-mail inquiries?  If no, why not? 
It would seem to me that agents would want to instantly respond to potential clients, even if it's a generic response, to let them know their e-mail was received and will be responded to ASAP.  You know they will e-mail many agents (just as I did) in a … (5 comments)

A little off-topic, but I just can't say enough about Pita Jungle!
My fiance and I have joined a fitness boot camp and are trying to eat better.  Fortunately, we are almost walking-distance to Pita Jungle in Arcadia! 
Pita Jungle is a local restaurant with locations in Arcadia, Arrowhead, Desert Ridge, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe and recently added Flagstaff.  They have a beatnik-kind of attitude and are very vegetarian-friendly - although there is plenty for us meat-eaters!  All the food is incredibly fresh and we've not had a less-than-stellar dish yet!

I'm getting nervous....!
I am reviewing a lease now for a retail store in Old Town Scottsdale.  It will help me get even better pricing from my distributors, but I'm still so nervous!  It's a big step for a small company...but at the same time, I'm excited to potentially have my OWN store!

What has replaced Craigslist as a business generator...? - 06/02/09 06:57 PM
As a home furnisher, I have used craigslist like most of the world probably has - for concert or event tickets, selling cars, or trying to move old appliances. 
I found craigslist via a real estate agent-friend, who found many investor-buyer clients via craigs - either from a "services" posting, or posting his listings.
I have posted ads for Vacation Home Furnishing and Home Staging, but have not seen a payoff for it.  (Then again, since craigslist is free, I can't complain too much!) 
So I have to ask...."Has something replaced Craigslist...?"
