My first awakening was at precisely 2:22 a.m. I rose and walked to the windows to take my first look at June's full moon. I am never disappointed by my first glimpse of the moon shining down on the harbor, bathing it in golden light, so brilliant it chases any signs of drowsiness from my mind.

On Memorial Day, my lovely wife Judi,
 
 precocious furry "child" Cooper,
 
and I packed up the family truckster for a visit to my parent's final resting place and a drive down memory lane...
About 90 minutes south of Seattle lies Shelton, Washington, a beautiful hamlet of nearly 10,000 residents on the tip of Puget Sound's Oakland Bay.  Shelton's economy was centered around logging and the timber industry for over 100 years.  Although there are now other significant contributors to the economy such as shellfish cultivation, tourism, and the service industry, the Simpson Timber Company lumber yard and sawmill still dominate the town's landscape.
