Real Estate Career: Part Time vs Full Time??? - 12/31/09 10:17 AM
Part Time vs Full Time ??? Such a common dilemma for many people who are considering a career in Real Estate. Can I start part time? As a manager I was asked this question often. My answer: You will have a better chance of winning rolliing dice at the casino than doing Real Estate on a part time basis. The reason is simple: Being successful in Real Estate is a FULL TIME job and then some. 24/7 Commitment The Top Producers in any market will tell you that Real Estate is a 24/7 commitment to

Mother's Recipe Box: Pumpkin Pie - 12/26/09 03:22 PM
Mother's Recipe Box: Pumpkin Pie This recipe originally came from my grandmother. Over the years I have teaked the spices just a little. The recipe makes two nine inch pies. I usually make one pie for Thanksgiving and freeze the extra pudding until Christmas. As a little boy Dave requested a pumpkin pie for his birthday on rather than a cake. 3 cups pumpkin (I use large canned pumpkin) 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup sugar 2 tablespoons molasses (My mother like BlackStrap Molasses--it's stronger) 1/4 tsp cloves 3 tsp cinnamon 2 tsp ginger (Grandma recipe says 3 tsp)

Consumer Notice a.k.a. Golden Rule Consumer Notice THIS IS NOT A CONTRACT Consumers of real estate services in Pennsylvania must receive the Consumer Notice at the initial interview with a real estate agent. Despite the best intentions of RELRA (PA Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act) . . . many consumers are still . . . Confusedabout what real estate agents can do and can't do for them. Let's simplify the Consumer Notice for them with the Golden Rule of Real Estate (Consumer Notice) *** Do unto others as you want them to do unto you

HOLIDAY BONUS: No, not $$$$$ - 12/26/09 07:09 AM
HOLIDAY BONUS Are you hoping for Holiday Bonus? $$$$$$$$ Cash or check For most people the term Bonus means money especially at holiday time. Per several feature articles in the Christmas edition of the Erie Times-News I learned how the Erie community was the beneficiary of a Holiday Bonus through the actions of several Erie-ites. These Erie-ites are not high profile celebrities. They are just ordinary people who did a little something extra for others in 2009. Let me highlight their stories. Mark & Linda Aleksandrowicz Organized a blood drive to benefit a fellow member of Erie

The Joy of Giving: Lesson Learned - 12/17/09 09:35 PM
The Joy of Giving: Lesson Learned Early Morning Fire Leaves 40 Homeless A headline jolts most people's attention. Then we thank God it's not us or someone we know personally and we go on with our busy lives... Until I read the following story in Country magazine. A West Texas Christmas A young girl's story of moving to remote west Texas town just before Christmas in 1944 jolted my inner being more than the headlines of FIRE in Erie, PA 2009. The author wanted to cry at the prospect of celebrating Christmas in a new location

Homestyle Cooking with Mary: Apple Waldorf Salad - 12/03/09 08:08 PM
Waldorf Salad, my favorite non-green salad Now I could sit down and eat half the bowl, but I won't. Waldorf salad is good any time of year, but fall apples are the best. I prefer Cortland apples which are very abundant in my area. I peel half the apples; the other I leave the skin on for color. Seedless grapes or raisins Walnuts or pecans Chopped celery Mini marshmallows Miracle Whip Lite (sometimes I use Mayo-lite) As you know by know I use the ingredients I have on hand. A little of this and a little of that rather

Homestyle Cooking with Mary: Split Pea & Ham Soup - 12/02/09 07:04 PM
Would you like to stay for bowl of soup & hot biscuits? Early this morning I decided to make Split Pea & Ham soup. When I cook I gather all the ingredients before starting, but I don't have an exact recipe to follow when making soup. To me soup means use whatever is in the refrigerator or cupboard. That is probably why each time I make soup it turns out a bit different. Fortunately no one ever complains. Generally these are the ingredients I use when making split pea & ham soup. Ham bone & ham pieces Vegetable
