Spring Is Coming Soon - 03/29/11 06:00 PM
SPRING IS COMING SOON

Let's ignore the cold temps and think SPRING.  Yes, the calendar tells us it is spring, but the cold temperatures make us wonder which season it really is.  Since my crocuses retreated with the recent cold snap I put together this basket of silk flowers for my front porch.

Enjoy  . . .  Spring is coming soon

Soon . . .

Mixed-Up Flower: Winter Cactus Blooms - 03/24/11 04:10 PM
Mixed-Up Flower:  Winter Cactus Blooms

Well, by now most of us are aware that Phil, the infamous groundhog from Punxsutawney, PA, screwed up his forecast for an early spring and sent most of North America back to winter-like weather.

Even my winter cactus is blooming.

Enjoy the beauty ~ it may be a long time before the daffodils and tulips bloom in Erie, PA.

It may be cold in Erie, PA this weekend, but I will be teaching Real Estate Fundamentals.  Join me . . .

How Can I Help? - 03/22/11 12:23 PM
How Can I Help?

        ????????

Are there days when even standing on your head isn't enough to satisfy some customers/clients?  Then your child or spouse ask you ONE more question?

Did you get up early so you could try to fit everything in and you still had a long 'To do' list when you collapsed into bed with your clothes on?
Did you have dinner last night?  Yes, if you count the stale chips & half a candy bar dinner found in the car.

"Coq au Vin" a.k.a. Chicken with Wine Sauce - 03/19/11 10:01 AM
Homestyle Cooking with Mary:  "Coq au Vin" a.k.a. Chicken with Wine Sauce

While on a recent Royal Caribbean Cruise the dinner menu included 'Coq au Vin' with a tempting description so I tried it and loved it.  Seated at our table were two older ladies originally from France who encouraged me to write down their recipe for 'Coq au Vin'.
Try it ~ You'll love it!

I can't pronounce the words 'Coq au Vin' much less spell them w/o a little help, but I will tell you that 'Coq au Vin' is a winner.  Well, I must … (26 comments)

Why Join Toastmasters? I Don't Want to Be Public Speaker, so What's Toastmasters Going to Do for Me? - 03/16/11 01:42 PM
Why Join Toastmasters?
I don't want to be a public speaker so what's Toastmasters going to do for me?  This is a question I hear all the time. So why do I recommend Toastmasters?

My answer:    Butterfly     Control

Yes, Butterfly Control. Do butterflies attack your stomach when you are meeting new clients?
How does your stomach react when you approach a FSBO (for sale by owner)   Competing for new listing?
What was your anxiety level before walking into a job interview?  Annual review?  Waiting for clients to respond to offer?
Do you look forward to attending … (12 comments)

Power of Nature Vs Nature's Beauty - 03/11/11 08:17 AM
Power of Nature Vs Nature's Beauty

Breaking News:  Yesterday the Weather Channel and news media relayed story after story of devasating floods, heavy snow, tornados across the country.

Breaking News:  Today an 8.9 earthquake struck Japan and tsunami waves are racing across the Pacific.  I can only imagine what the people in Japan, Hawaii and the west coast are dealing with.
My yard is blanketed with snow again, but today I want to remember the beauty of Hawaii as I pray for everyone's safety.

Today's Challenge: Try Picnik.com w/o Becoming Frustrated - 03/08/11 10:48 AM
Thanks Cindy Westfall
Recently Cindy Westfall posted 'How to edit photos using Picnik.com'.
Not wanting to take the time or probably the real reason was that I didn't want to deal with my own lack of confidence in tech territory that day so I bookmarked Cindy's post. (Yes, I have lots of bookmarked posts that I never go back to.)

Today the sun is shining in Erie, PA and I decided that this was the day I would challenge myself to learn at least one thing about Picnik.com and here are not one, but two collages I … (17 comments)

Small Signs of Spring: Snowdrops - 03/05/11 11:05 AM
Small Sign of Spring:  Snowdrops

Spring is really on its way.  Mother's advice:  look for the Snowdrops.

Yes, Mother I found them at the base of tree.

Just a few days ago we had 10" of snow.
Some years the snowdrops bloom under a light snow.
This year I forgot to look for them until Mother said to look for the snowdrops.  Thanks, Mother, you are always right.

Get Creative ~ Disconnect - 03/04/11 10:44 AM

'Disconnect'  'Disconnect' 'Disconnect'  Yes, I used that word, 'Disconnect' again.  For those who depend on technology,  'Disconnect' is synonymous of a few four-letter words that I can't use in print.  Yesterday my brain failed me.  I was out of ideas for another ActiveRain post and just didn't feel like visiting on Facebook so I just Disconnected.  And what happened? Flooded Basement, but My Bridge Survived another Flood - 03/01/11 10:36 AM
Flooded Basement, but Bridge Survived
Spring Melt Means Trouble  told a tale of yet another Trout Run flood.
Good news:  my bridge over Trout Run was still in place this morning.
Bad news:  Section of the basement flooded--Dave's workshop & carpet leading into family room.
Good news:   This flood is not as bad as the last few times.  Yes, we have sump pump & French drains and once before we had to replace the carpet in family room.

More good news: The temperature plummeted last night so the melting stopped for the time being.
