Ah! Yes! The Out of Town Lender Who Is A Friend! - 04/22/07 10:17 PM
All I wanted when I got up on Friday was to do a couple showings, return some calls and e-mails, enter a new listing, go to a closing at 2:00 in my office and go home! We were going out of town and leaving at 5:00. Everything went as scheduled until 1:40. I hadn't received a copy of the HUD statement and the buyer's lender, a good friend of the buyer, an hour away in a little town said I'd have it by 9:00 AM. I called the settlement company , another 30 min. away and the person who was going to do … (3 comments)

Celebrating Fair Housing In Iowa City - 04/19/07 12:09 PM
As all REALTORS are aware, April is Fair Housing month. That's not to say that we shouldn't follow the fair housing guidelines all year long! It's just that April is the anniversary month of the Federal Fair Housing act. It's a good time to remind everyone of the guidelines and how they apply to us as REALTORS. REALTORS are often the first contacts area newcomers have. Diversity is a good thing! Wouldn't it be a boring world if we were all the same! Owning a home is the American dream and everyone, regardless of their differences should be afforded that privilege!

Is This Impossible in Madison? - 04/12/07 05:38 PM
I have buyer clients who are moving to Madison. They have already been contacted by a REALTOR through their relocation company.
First off, she told them they would never be able to find what they were looking for in the price range they gave her but if they went up just $40,000 she was sure they would. Maybe she's exactly right, maybe not!
They can't go up that high, they are going to owe at least $9000 at closing on their home here. Just bought less than a year ago and for 100% financing. She is getting a really great promotion so … (0 comments)

Active Rain Realtors- All so different but much the same! - 04/09/07 05:50 PM
As I read many of  your blogs, I find myself thinking, "I've felt that way!" or "That's happened to me!". We may all live in different parts of the country, be affiliated with many different companies but what it really boils down to, is we all have a passion for real estate and doing what is best for our clients and fellow agents. If we didn't have a passion for our industry, we wouldn't be taking the time to read the blogs and comment on them. We wouldn't care about how we handled a transaction. We wouldn't care about doing a … (6 comments)

Real Estate Overload - 04/01/07 03:45 PM
It is Sunday afternoon and I have been sitting in my office the last 4 hours going through my e-mail and catching up on all the great articles I just have to read. I am fascinated by the on-line communities and blogging. Taking the e-PRO course really introduced me to a world I was vaguely familiar with but really didn't have a clue about. Does that make sense?
Sundays are supposed to be my day away from  Real Estate and I'm consumed by it today!
Why is it so much of what I'm reading I already know and I've heard millions of times … (0 comments)
