Have you noticed that many new construction homes refer to the room off the kitchen as the "keeping room"?  After several clients asked me about them, I decided to Google the term and try to find a definition.  After an extensive search, I didn't get a definitive answer, so here is a quick summary of what I learned online AND on my favorite TV channel HGTV.
FIRST, THE BASICS -- Definition from Webster's Dictionary:  a common room (as in a colonial house) usually used for multiple purposes (date 1771)
