Beginning May 11, 2009 the price of a postage stamp will increase $.02 cents to $.44 cents per stamp. However, if you purchase the Forever Stamps at the $.42 rate now they will remain valid in the future regardless of the rate hikes. In spite of the price increase, the post office lost $2.8 billion dollars last year due to the reduced mail volume. They are considering going to 5 day delivery in an effort to save on costs. The article stated that if you did not make the charge you should not let it slide as potentially millions of credit card holders are receiving this charge and it could be a scam.
