Citizen Twitter...Worldwide News Conference Using Social Media for PR - 12/30/08 01:40 PM
I checked into my Twitter account this morning just in time to see a notification about a most unusual news conference.  The Israeli consulate was going to hold it's first Citizen News Conference on Twitter and was inviting the citizens of the World to ask questions about the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip.
According to their site/twitter profile:
"twitter is one of the places a discussion was held, and we wanted to join in and participate in it. #AskIsrael"
I'm monitoring the discussion.  Hundreds of new subscribers have joined since the conference began.  Re-tweets are spreading the dialog rapidly across … (24 comments)

2008 was a huge wake up call for the real estate industry as it was buffeted by hurricane force winds which hurled the housing industry headlong into the … (17 comments)

Merry Christmas & Blessings For the New Year! - 12/24/08 02:29 PM
It's been an interesting day online.  In between doing all the stuff that needs to be done for the holiday celebration which has included: cleaning, tackling the pile of laundry and re-shelving wayword books that have a way of landing in all sorts of nooks and crannies, I've dropped into several live conversations online via Twitter and watched a great Christmas eve service online.
We've got tons and tons of snow over here in Grand Rapids, MI...so it will be a very, very white and cold Christmas.  But, we're looking forward to time with the family and reconnecting with friends.  2008 … (30 comments)

East Grand Rapids...A Quintessential West Michigan Community - 12/20/08 01:37 PM
The city of East Grand Rapids is one of Grand Rapids, Mi most interesting suburbs.  It was originally settled by the Reed family in the 1830's and was subsequently incorporated as a city in the 1920's.
Quintessentially West Michigan...
Approximately a third of the land area of the city is embodied in two large lakes; Reeds Lake and Fisk Lake.  These waterways and the parks have made the thriving metropolis a wonderful place to live and recreate.
Well known for its award winning school system, the East Grand Rapids high school has won over 100 State Championships in a variety of … (18 comments)

Rocky's efforts on behalf of others will take her across the globe to Kenya, East Africa in January where she will be coordinating the education and physical provision of 10 special girls at St. Monica's Orphanage.
We're truly excited about this trip during which we hope to provide enough money for 10 YOUNG LADIES to GO TO A GOOD HIGH SCHOOL. Education changes lives! Earlier this month, I witnessed the power of Social Media for … (8 comments)

Deed or No Deed...Some Issues to Consider IF You're Thinking about Giving Your Keys to the Bank! - 12/15/08 11:16 PM
A question which I have been asked more frequently in recent months concerns the issue of Deeds in Lieu of Foreclosure.  (Sometimes, this program is referred to as Keys for Cash)
Concerned Grand Rapids, Michigan home owners who need to sell their property in less than ideal circumstances have inquired about my thoughts regarding this type of transfer of property ownership. Many have been confused about what the implications were for them personally.
The answer to these questions are not simple and the choice for the home owner considering this type of option should include a consideration of a number of different issues which … (11 comments)

Two years since I first stumbled upon the Active Rain Network and wrote a little blog and hoped that perhaps someone, somewhere would read it.
Two years which went so quickly, that I forgot about my anniversary until...

Are You Building an Idiot Proof Real Estate Business & Why It Matters! - 12/01/08 09:59 PM
Well over a decade ago, I read Michael Gerbers' famous book, 'The E-Myth.'  I am the daughter of two entrepreneurs and an entrepreneur myself.  I have lived through the 'technician syndrome' that Gerber described in which vast amounts of energy are siphoned from the entrepreneur who must run their business on a daily basis and subsequently becomes a slave to the work rather than the inspiration driving the company.
So, when the idea of making a business 'Idiot Proof' was introduced during a professional real estate seminar, I was eager to embrace the method.  The process involved systematizing a business by breaking each action/segment … (76 comments)
