The FICO score is used by mortgage lenders, car lenders, even insurance companies.  There is nothing as important to you managing your financial future as having a good credit score.   Ever wonder how the credit bureaus calculate those FICO scores?  Here's some key factors that influence your credit score:
•·         max out a credit card                                                                      10-30 points
•·         30-day delinquency                                                                         60-80 points
•·         settle credit card debt for less than full balance                                  45-65 points
•·         home foreclosure                                                                            85-105 points
•·         file bankruptcy                                                                               130-150 points

New HUD Guidelines Gives Break to Some Borrowers with a Short Sale History - 12/18/09 09:38 PM
Great news for borrowers with a short sale in their credit history who are waiting to repurchase. Just announced by HUD December 16th:
Effective immediately, Borrowers may purchase another home with FHA insured financing if  (1) They were current on their mortgage and other debt at the time of the short sale; and  (2) The proceeds from the short sale served as payment in full.   
Previously, these borrowers were told they needed to wait for three years from the date of their short sale before they could be considered for a new mortgage loan.   The new relaxed guidelines will allow thousands of borrowers to move on with their lives … (2 comments)
