North Shore Home Prices vs. Case Shiller Index - 12/31/10 11:48 AM
There was a collective shudder in the Chicago area when the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index for October was released on Tuesday. For the second month in a row, Chicago had the distinction of having the worst year over year price decline of twenty cities. Home prices in the Chicago area fell 6.5% vs. October of 2009. A distressing statistic to be sure, but real estate is local so most of us are left wondering how that compares to our own town or neighborhood.

North Shore Market Update: January - November 2010 - 12/10/10 01:42 PM

Sales of detached single family homes on the North Shore were up 28% year-to-date through November. Every town registered gains in units sold, with the biggest winners being Winnetka (+46%), Highland Park (+47%) and Lake Forest (+41%). Glencoe was the only town with single-digit gains (+4%).
Another positive sign is that market time for homes sold has decreased 7%, from 213 days to 199 days. All towns had shorter average market times, with Evanston’s … (0 comments)
