My Blog & Me -- On National T.V. - 05/30/09 01:30 PM
As real estate brokers, we are often the first introduction that many relocating homebuyers have to our area of the country. When researching where to live, people rely on REALTORS for information about various key criteria such as neighborhoods, schools, prices, trends, things to do in the region, tax considerations, etc. As real estate brokers, we are Ambassadors for our own regions. Show me one real estate agent who hates the area they work and live, and I'll show you one agent who should leave the business. "In the know" real estate agents -- those who embrace blogging and Web (54 comments)
Brian Block on the Neil Cavuto Show on Fox News - 05/30/09 01:28 PM
Just over a year ago, Maryland, which borders my home state of Virginia, decided to raise the taxes on its residents who earn over $1 million per year -- the so-called "Millionaire Tax." I decided to use this as the perfect opportunity to encourage Maryland millionaires to consider moving down to Virginia! Here's my blog post from April 9, 2008: Virginia Welcomes Migration of Maryland Millionaires A couple of weeks ago, the state of Maryland reported that state tax revenues were down. 1/3 less Maryland taxpayers reporting incomes over $1 million from a year prior. Where'd they go? As this news (1 comments)
It's a Great Place to Have a Real Estate Office, I Can Tell You That - 05/25/09 08:15 AM
In real estate, as you know, there are three important words. Location. Location. Location. Whether it's a potential homebuyer deciding upon where to live, or a seller trying to value their home, location plays the primary role. I always tell people that you can change the home both interior and exterior on your own. However you cannot change the location. The same rule applies when deciding where to establish a business. In this case, a real estate office. My RE/MAX office is located in McLean, Virginia. Take a look at this short video which covers a recent study that named McLean, (2 comments)
Your Third House is Your Dream House - 05/19/09 06:15 AM
Here's some advice that I always give to my clients. It usually turns out to be true. "Your Third House is Your Dream House"
Your 1st House is the one that helps you stop renting. Your 1st House transitions you into being a homeowner. Your 1st House helps you start building equity. Your 1st House gets you into the market.
Your 2nd House is for when you're ready to move up. You buy your 2nd House when your family is getting larger, you've got a job promotion, etc. You need more room and can afford more (52 comments)

Alexandria Virginia Average Condo Fees -- 2009 - 05/16/09 05:38 PM
For purchasers of condominiums, the ever-present condo fees weigh heavily on their minds in making the decision about which condo to choose and whether to purchase a condo at all or avoid the fee by buying a townhouse or single family home. Condominiums have condo associations which set budgets and rules for the condo. Fees for maintenance of the building or buildings within the complex often include such items as elevators, janitorial services, snow and trash removal, security systems, and amenities (pool, tennis court, gym, party room, etc.). These fees are typically divided between the owners based on the square footage (4 comments)
