Burning Down the House - 10/31/11 02:26 PM
This past weekend (while at a Halloween Party) I learned something new about real estate -- something that you probably didn't know either. So, thought I'd share. This guy at the party told me that he recently knocked down his house to make room for the bigger and better house that he now has built on his property. This in itself wasn't news -- teardowns and rebuilds are pretty common in Northern Virginia and throughout other parts of the country. I marketed and sold a teardown the other year: Mr. or Mrs. Buyer: Tear Down This House! What was fascinating

6 Ways to Make Sure Your Home Never Sells - 10/26/11 10:25 AM

Forget hiring a real estate agent and save that commission. You love your home and so will everyone else. Maybe you don't really want to move and want to keep your home forever. If that's the case, here's six steps to make sure that your home never sells and you can live there until the day you die. 1. Overprice Your HomeIgnore the market and statistics about home

How Quickly Will My Home Sell? - 10/21/11 04:43 PM
"How Quickly Will My Home Sell?" -- now that's a question that's on the mind of everyone that decides to sell their home. There's no easy answer as it certainly depends on a number of factors, among which are: Location -- since we're talking real estate, that's obvious. A home in Arlington within easy commuting distance of Washington D.C. will almost always sell quicker than a home in the boondocks (not sure we even have boondocks in Northern Virginia, but you know what I mean). Price -- every house will eventually sell... for the right price. You'll be able to find

Nonetheless, some discerning renter is going to really enjoy this 5 bedroom home located just off Franconia Road in Alexandria and not far from the Franconia and Van Dorn metro stops. Take a look below for details and photos:

An Industry Leader: Brian Block Elected to the NVAR Board of Directors - 10/17/11 01:56 PM
I have some very exciting news to report. I've been elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS (NVAR)! The results of the election were announced last Tuesday at the NVAR Convention. Here's the official announcement: 2012 Board Election Results Last Tuesday morning as I was about to head off to the NVAR Convention, I was surprised by a very touching gesture from my wife. On the dashboard of my car, she'd secretly placed a chocolate truffle (YUM!) and a "Good Luck" card where she wrote "Good Luck in the NVAR Election.

There are contracts, addendums, inspections, appraisals, title searches, surveys, and a whole bunch of players. At any stage, anything and everything can fall apart. That's why it's crucial to hire an experienced REALTOR who can guide you through the sale whether you are buying or selling a home. When you hire me, you're also getting a REALTOR who worked as a real estate attorney for several years and saw all the problems that could happen with a real estate deal in Northern Virginia. After
