nvar economic summit: Distilling the Data: 15th Annual NVAR Economic Summit - 09/19/11 01:54 PM
Last Thursday, as I've done every year since I got started in real estate, I attended the 15th Annual Economic Summit hosted by the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS.
The Economic Summit always provides a wealth of information about the national and local economy and the experts who present there distill the data, parse through the predictions, and help the attendees "Understand How National & Neighborhood News Impacts Business."  This year was just as enlightening as all past summits.  It had to be.  Just look at the stellar credentials of the speakers:

nvar economic summit: Get Ready for Some Economic Predictions (Prognostications) This Week! - 09/13/10 02:56 PM
Do you know the laws of Economists?

It's always interesting to listen to an economist talk.  Economists can either make you feel really upbeat or make you feel like you should head to the nearest watering hole, remove your REALTOR name badge, tear up your business cards and drink yourself silly.  For the latter effect, go see Nouriel Roubini (AKA Dr. Doom) speak (which I did in January 2008 in NYC where he predicted the subprime collapse and … (6 comments)

Undoubtedly, it's the number one question that I hear every day.  Week in and week out.  Clients ask it.  Potential clients ask it.  Friends, family, even strangers ask me.  A dozen Kiwanis Club members asked me last week when I spoke about real estate to their group.

Yes, that question is:  Where's the real estate market going?  What will the future bring?  Are we at the bottom?  Are prices going down?  What about foreclosures?  How's the general economy effect the real estate market?  Are you keeping busy?  Times must be slow?
Okay, that's actually 8 questions, but in reality they're … (4 comments)
