So, Thursday evening, I was relaxing on the sidewalk patio in Shirlington at the Capitol City Brewery (a local watering hole) with a few fellow REALTORS. One of my friends asked the waiter whether it was still Happy Hour, to which he replied, "No, sorry. Happy Hour ended at 7 p.m. It's now 7:45." Okay. No harm. Cathy orders a pomegranate margarita, Nancy gets a glass of wine, I order a beer. At the end of the evening we get the bill. Cathy's margarita's were $10 a pop, the wine $6.50... my beers... 2 bucks. Much of the attention in Arlington, Virginia remains focused on North Arlington, particularly the Rosslyn to Ballston corridor, and with good reason. This span of Arlington centered around the Orange Line metro has been the scene of some smart redevelopment choices as parking lots turn into high-rise condos and restaurants, shops, and hip bars and nightclubs line Wilson Boulevard and Clarendon Boulevard providing plenty of entertainment options for the young urban/suburbanites without having to head into D.C. South Arlington, with its generally older residential neighborhoods and lack of metro line accessibility often gets tossed aside like the ugly stepsister at the (12 comments)
Home sales in Arlington, Virginia for June 2007 totaled 308 homes at an average price of $572,362. This is pretty much on par with sales in May 2007 which totaled 307 sales at an average price of $574,398. At an average of 56 days on market, homes in Arlington are selling at a faster pace than most jurisdictions in the Northern Virginia market. MRIS just released the sales data statistics for June 2007 for area housing sales. As has been the story for most of this year and last, housing prices are continuing to trend downward as well as number of sales and total sales volume. For all of Northern Virginia (which includes Arlington County, Alexandria City, Falls Church City, Fairfax City, and Fairfax County) total sales volume for June 2007 was $1,140,220,908 down over 12.5% from last years sales of over $1.3 billion. The average sales price was off 1.53% from June 2006 at $569,826. 2,001 housing units sold in June as compared (1 comments)
