tysons corner: Fairfax County Ranks 13th Nationally In Traffic Congestion - 12/10/09 05:00 PM
While certainly not good news, there's some silver lining to this report that Craig Richardson (an agent in my office) discusses below regarding traffic congestion in the D.C. and Northern Virginia areas:
The traffic congestion points to the fact that our region is growing -- people are coming to the area.
Some of the congestion is temporary, as Craig points out, due to the current construction surrounding Tysons Corner and the Metro extension. Finally, the completion of the Metro extension over the next few years should alleviate some of the road traffic as public transportation will reach out further into the Northern … (3 comments)

tysons corner: Spring Update on Tysons Corner Condos - 04/05/08 01:05 PM
With or without an extension of the D.C. metro through Tysons Corner, there's no doubt that this valuable corner of real estate in Northern Virginia is a growth hotspot.  Tysons Corner is billed as the downtown of Fairfax County and between the massive shopping malls, abundance of office space, and myriad fine restaurants, it certainly lives up to its reputation.
If you are relocating to Northern Virginia and work for an accounting firm, consulting firm, technology company, law firm, hotel, or in retail, chances are high that your new position will be in the Tysons Corner area.

tysons corner: Last Minute Holiday Shopping: Biggest Malls in Northern Virginia - 12/21/07 05:49 PM
Admit it -- you procrastinated this year!  You promised yourself that this year would be different... you'd get your holiday shopping done early.  However, life got in the way.  Instead of braving Black Friday, you spent the day with your family eating Thanksgiving turkey leftovers and watching t.v. marathons.  Cyber-Monday came and went and you missed all the internet deals and free shipping offers.
It's the Friday before Christmas -- December 21st and this is your last chance.  The final shopping weekend.  Yes, the stores will be crowded, but you've got no other choice.

Where to get all the best holiday gifts?

tysons corner: Tysons Corner Condominiums: How Much Do They Cost? - 12/11/07 11:38 PM
Tysons Corner, Virginia is home to numerous big-name companies, the highest concentration of office and retail space on the East Coast after New York City, some wonderful restaurants, large shopping malls, world-class hotels, and lots of traffic.  Some of this traffic should be alleviated over the next 5-10 years with the planned completion of the Metro rail through Tysons Corner en route to Dulles Airport.
Many people commute to Tysons Corner as their place of business in the D.C. metro area.  Fewer people actually live there at night, but those that do enjoy the amenities that the area has to offer.  … (20 comments)

tysons corner: Fast Falls Church City Sales: July Sales Average 29 Days on the Market - 08/06/07 03:04 PM
In a Northern Virginia real estate market where homes are lingering for long periods of time unsold, the small jurisdiction of Falls Church City saw some very quick sales in July 2007.
Falls Church City is the smallest city in Virginia with less than 12,000 residents.  There are only about 4,800 individual households according to the City's tax records.
In July 2007, there were 17 home sales in Falls Church ranging in price from $304,000 to $1,439,000.  The average sales price for July was $734,528.  These homes sold at an average of 97.95% of the listing price in a lightning fast pace of … (1 comments)

tysons corner: Coming in One Week: Virginia Sales Tax Holiday August 3-5th - 07/26/07 02:17 PM
Everyone loves a sale!

How about a state sanctioned sale?
Coming next weekend is the second annual Virginia Sales Tax holiday.  It starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007 and ends at midnight on Sunday, August 5, 2007.  Virginia's normal sales tax rate is 5%.  During the August 3-5 sales tax holiday, purchases of school supplies selling for $20 or less per item, and articles of clothing, including footwear, selling for $100 or less per item, will be exempt from sales tax.
You don't need to live in Virginia to take advantage of the sale tax exemption -- just shop here.
