virginia real estate: Tonight You Get To Do What I Do Every Day - 10/31/09 01:41 AM
Today is Halloween!  Happy Halloween to you and the kiddies.
Time to bob for apples, dress up in scary costumes, get some candy, and wait for the Great Pumpkin!
Most of all, it's time to trek around the neighborhood Trick-or-Treating.
It's the one time of year, that it's considered okay to knock on stranger's doors (and they'll actually open them) and peek inside their homes.  On all other days of this year, this would be considered trespassing, and depending upon which state you live in, you might be staring at the other end of a loaded shotgun when that door opened.

virginia real estate: Advertising on AR: Ask Me About Allegiance! - 08/23/08 01:24 AM
This morning I noticed that my real estate brokerage, RE/MAX Allegiance has started running ads in the ActiveRain Sponsors area that shows up on your screen along the side or along the top every time you log in to the site.  Our RE/MAX franchise has a strong presence in the Washington D.C. area, including over 1200 agents in over 35 offices throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia.  In addition to the immediate Capital Area, RE/MAX Allegiance also has office locations in Annapolis, Maryland, Richmond VA, Roanoke VA, and Virginia Beach.
I wonder if their recruiting advertisement appears on everyone's screen or … (12 comments)

virginia real estate: 7 Laps Around the Home Sales Track: Is 2008 Keeping Up with the 2007 Pace Car? - 08/10/08 05:19 AM
Think of the year as a car race with each month being a lap around the oval track.  For 2008, we've finished 7 laps around the track and we've started on the 8th go-around.  When predicting the future of the housing market, we need to do so from the safety and protection of the pit stop.
In auto racing, there's the safety or pace car, which competitors are not allowed to pass during a caution period, leading the field along at a pre-determined safe speed.  For purposes of today's analysis, we'll use home sales in 2007 as the pace car to … (2 comments)

Unlike the latest hit song or fleeting celebrity of Ashley Dupre (who? oh yeah, that was Eliot Spitzer's call girl), real estate is always a hot topic.  Whether the market's going up or going down, having a home and a place to rest your head at night will always rank up there on Mazlow's hierarchy of needs.
While real estate as a whole always generates buzz, here's a look at What's Hot & What's Not for

virginia real estate: Alexandria Virginia Recognized for Promoting Affordable Housing - 05/05/08 11:50 PM
This news just in...
Alexandria, Virginia was one of six cities recognized by the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and the U.S. Conference of Mayors as doing a great job to promote affordable housing opportunities.  See the NAR press release here.
The other cities designated as 2008 Ambassador cities are Allentown, PA, Asheville, NC, Bowling Green, KY, Irvine, CA, and Richmond, VA.
Despite the recent decline in home values, the skyrocketing home prices over the last decade have caused issues of affordability throughout Northern Virginia and within the City of Alexandria.
According to the press release, Alexandria instituted a program … (10 comments)
