home buyers: How Baker Home Inspection and Consulting, can help you Part 2, New Hampshire - 05/03/08 09:47 PM

Knowledge is the Power for Your Freedom to a Worry Free Home!

The issues that really matter will fall into four categories:
Major defects, an example of this would be a structural failure.Things will lead to major defects, like a small roof-flashing leak, for an example.Things that may hinder your ability to finance the home, or legally occupy or insure the home you like.Safety Hazards, like an exposed live buss bar at the electric panel.Anything in these categories should be addressed. Often a serious problem can be corrected inexpensively to protect both life and property ( especially in categories 2 and 4 ).

home buyers: Hand Held Shower Sprayers, First Time Home Buyer's - 05/02/08 11:46 PM

Knowledge is the Power for Your Freedom to a Worry Free Home!

The problem with hand held shower sprayers is that the flexible pipe that connects to the sprayer is uselly long enough for the sprayer to be completely immersed in the tub water. Most residential hand held sprayers don't have vacuum breakers, like commercial ones have. There are residential ones available, and … (0 comments)

Vented means that the combustion gases will be vented to the outside. Now a unvented one means that all the exhaust gases stay in the home.
The appeal to folk's of the unvented, is that they are essentially 100% efficient. But there is a controversy with unvented gas fireplaces and that is the home becomes the flue for the gas fireplace. But … (4 comments)

home buyers: First Time Homebuyer's, Be Sure your Home Inspector, Looks at the Chimney Flashing! - 05/02/08 03:20 PM

Knowledge is the Power for Your Freedom to a Worry Free Home!

One of the main causes of a leaking roof is the failure of the flashing around the chimney.

Other than spotting obvious problems, such as the flashing flapping … (2 comments)
