On this 4th of July, Happy Independence Day! As we celebrate the 238th anniversary of the year of our young nation's birth, my thoughts drift to the words of President John Adams, who in a letter to his wife Abigail remarked of the occasion that "it ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more." The ultimate of paradoxes…God Bless America The ultimate of paradoxes…God Bless America (Photo credit, Reuters) Call me crazy (it’s happened before), but it’s hard for me to wrap my brain around a system that lets women use 21st-century technology- yet forces them into oppression and a manner of dress that seemingly comes from the 1st century.

A humble nation salutes the flag "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"- Psalm 33:12 May we Americans always show respect for our national ensign and what it represents, for those who've given their lives for it, and so that others may continue to wave if forevermore. May God keep you and yours safe this holiday, and may God continue to bless America. Despite any of our faults and differences, America remains the greatest nation planet Earth has ever known.
