I never thought of this before, but all this talk about Sarah Palin and Fox news on location in Alaska, I started to get curious about the Northern Lights, or the Light Show!
We were always so spoiled with the NYC skyline, I just never thought there was anything else. So, started doing some research on Northern Lights and found one that I am able to print, plus a website of the Northern Lights that is a must see!
The pictures on this site are from Alaska and Canada and we have such an urge to see this and how great it would be to see this....I am located on the other side of the world.....I have only flown a few times, I am scared to death to fly, and it is 2 1/2 hours from Newark to Fort Myers..I usually get the people in the airport rattled and most or them want to throw me off the plane way before it lands! One way or the other, I am going to figure out a way to see this personally.....I don't know how yet, but I will do it!
Than please watch this video. It is somewhat lengthly, but promise -- if you start it, you will see it through to the end. It is very touching and a nice tribute to our 911 victims and their families and our firefighters. Please take a few moments to see this amazing video.......We are checking off the box at the bottom of the page about the content!
We also have the video of the Budweiser Clydesdales that was aired only one time. I have seen it 100 times and still get teary eyed when watching it. I don't know how to post it, but if anyone would like to see it, we will happily e-mail to you -- maybe someone can figure out how to post it on Active Rain, it is so beautiful that everyone who has not seen it, should!
ABC News has banned their anchors and reporters from wearing flag lapel pins!!! Nothing patriotic at all are they allowed to wear. They don't want to get in the middle of anyone's "cause". They don't want to violate any of their Constitional Rights! What rights are they entitled to? What about all the men, women and children who perished 7 years ago today? What about our soldiers fighting for our flag?
This is what we would like to remember! It is not what we have. It was 7 years ago and I still remember exactly where we were -- about 24 miles west of Manhattan. We could see the smoke, but thought it was some type of fire. And how quickly these photos changed!
We went from this above to this: And then we went to this:
When we first heard the news, we thought it was a terrible accident. How could we have known? Why would we ever suspect anything different? In a matter of minutes, our lives changed forever!
My brother, who works next door in the Federal Building at USEPA saw that big piece of machinery coming toward them and then it turned and hit Tower 1. What he saw will always be in his mind. My cousin, who owned his own company in Tower 1 decided not to go to breakfast on the 80th floor with the rest of the employees. He was outside and does not know why he was saved! My niece, who lives only 1 block away had to walk to Brooklyn! One neighbor perished in the Towers on his very first day on the job!!! Another neighbor was on Flight 93! On the lighter side, our daughter moved from San Jose, Ca. to accept a position in Syracuse, NY. We were so happy to have our little girl back in the same time zone that we were in! We went to Syracuse and bought her a house the day after she arrived. The equipment for the company she worked for was in one of the 7 buildings that came tumbling down! It was only one week and now she will not fly.
Christmas came and the malls were empty! Everyone was afraid to go to a public place. Homes were adorned with American Flags and red, white, and blue lights. What patriotism! And so proud it made us to be united as Americans! Of course there were those who took matters into their own hands, we were all guilty! We had riots......and two 80 year old women went to the local Dunkin Donuts and each got a large black coffee and threw it at some who they perceived as terrorists!
How unfortunate for all of us that it is inevitable that these thugs will strike again!
We went to Syracuse, NY near Christmas and did go to a shopping mall -- it was Christmas as usual, only 4 1/2 hours away! Seeing it and smelling it was so different than looking at the news on television. It was nice to get away for just a few days from the broken hearts of the families we left behind in New Jersey.
We owe it to those who perished in New York and Virginia and those on Flight 93 to fly our flags. It is the least we can do in their memory and we owe it to them. REALTORS are proud Americans! We will have our flag waving in the breeze at half mast on September 11th .......
Give these victims and their families what they so deserve -- fly your flags on 9-1-1............

Since 1884, it has been celebrated on the first Monday of September and it is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It is a yearly tribute to the contributions we have all made toward the strength, prosperity and well being of our country. It is the "workingmen's holiday"...... Enjoy your weekend and be safe!
