Vilano Beach Grocery Store - Update
On June 16, 2010, the revised grocery store plan for the Vilano Beach Town Center was presented to the Vilano Beach Main Street Group at the Vilano Beach Hampton Inn. As Vice-chair of the North Shores Improvement Association, the board that oversees Vilano Beach Main Street, I had received an earlier copy, but did want to hear the presentation.
Many members of the local community and the local Vilano Beach businesses were there including:

Watching the Boats Go By - Fishing Tournament in St. Augustine - 06/11/10 07:57 AM
I am enjoying watching the boats go by here in Porpoise Point for the 2010 FOUNTAIN MERCURY KINGBUSTER 400 tournament that is happening in St. Augustine, Florida today, Friday, June 11th and tomorrow June 12th. It is limited to 400 boats (thus the name).
It is like watching a boat parade. The boats are filled with families and is a great sight to see.
This tournament is touted as the premiere Southern Kingfish competition of the year. Over $175,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

St. Augustine High - The Golden School 
The St. Augustine Record has a great article today, June 5, 2010, about one of our local high schools, St. Augustine High. Yesterday, St. Augustine High graduated their 50th class - the "golden" class. For years people did what they could to be in the Ponte Vedra school district so they could have their high school-aged children go to Nease High School. Tim Tebow is one example. There has been a fierce high school battle between Nease High School and St. Augustine High School for years. Nease was the higher rated school academically.

What do Rue McClanahan and Vilano Beach Have in Common?
Rue McClanahan was a fabulous actress who will be missed. Her best-known role was as Blanche Devereaux in The Golden Girls.
Reading all the wonderful things about Ms. McClanahan I couldn't help but notice many of them missed one fact. Rue McClanahan starred in a TV show that was filmed right here in Vilano Beach in 1999. My husband and I watched a nighttime scene with Rue McClanahan and co-star Gregory Harrison filmed on Vilano Road and enjoyed seeing the intricacies of on location filming.
