Seniors in Searcy High School have gone out and sold advertisements in the High School Yearbook for as long as I can remember.  The books were heavy, full of pictures with enough memories to last a lifetime.  Here's a picture from the 1976 yearbook.

The Seniors might try to get themselves and their relatives in the picture if the relatives had a business and bought an ad.  This picture shows VW Duncan, car salesman supreme, who started and reigned over the car dealership on Race Street in Searcy Arkansas until his death.  Also in the picture is my daughter Valerie, her … (19 comments)

Two more pictures contributed by my blogging buddy, Anita Hart.  Her mother is in each of them and they were traveling.  The first picture shows the ladies in Hot Springs Arkansas in the mid 50's.  She has the identity of some of them.  Her mother, Corrine Hart, Inez Pickens (Dean of Women at Harding College), Margurrite O'Bannion (Exec. Secretary to Dr. George Benson), Myrtle Roberson (owner of the Rendezvous Restaurant), and an unknown lady with the long fur tails.

Formal gardens still exist in parts of the world, I'm sure.  But in Searcy Arkansas I see only one example of what I think of as formal.  This house is on the Historic Register and has a vast history.  One of the stories that I heard was that the lovely wood shades which show on the windows here had been thrown away once.  The neighbors hauled them out of the trash and saved them until a person bought the house who would appreciate them and then they gave them back.

I found this old newspaper clipping with the title of "The Way We Were." 
It should say the way some people were.....what a house!  Notice the kids in the windows upstairs and more on the front steps.  One thing about blogging is the way it makes you more conscious of your surroundings, your town, the past, and the things that are here today and will probably be gone tomorrow.
This house is not one that I remember.  It was replaced by the West Side Church of Christ.  Now I wish I knew what it looked like when it was torn … (10 comments)

barbara duncan real estate: A sad public apology to a friend on the Rain, Mr. Charles Buell, Home Inspector - 12/07/08 12:22 PM
I have tears in my eyes as I write this public apology to Mr. Buell, Home Inspector, Artist, Bird Tamer, and blogger friend.  He has tamed this bird and called it the Raven.  Ooops, I meant he HAD tamed this raven and trained it as an assistant.
HAD is the sadness.  The bird came calling on me in Arkansas since I have bragged on her beauty.
