mulberry st: Another one bites the dust. Searcy AR very historic Blume's Eat Shop - 10/31/23 11:18 AM

Gone!  No need to drive by.
I went to the internet and found this rather old picture but not as old as the one above.  I really like the way the rock has been put on....kinda creative.
Through the years of blogging, I have done this eat shop at least two other times.  Let's research.  Click on the first address below. It tells about some of its history.  Read the comments and notice we had just become neighbors.

mulberry st: A round topped building on Mulberry, Searcy AR, very old. - 05/01/16 04:57 AM

I drive by this old round-topped building each day as I go to the new RE/MAX building shown here in the background.  Each day I wonder how much longer it will last.  The tenant has moved and it does not have a "for rent" sign on it.  Rumor is that it will be gone soon so perhaps it needs a little recognition.
I remember when this Mulberry Street existed but Beebe Capps Expressway did not.  I think I remember, but hope I'm wrong, being in a car with a nutty driver who just drove across the elevated concrete platform with a carload … (6 comments)

mulberry st: OMG! Is that our haunted house in this 1918 Mulberry Street Quitman AR postcard?? - 02/24/12 05:25 AM
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette has this popular feature called Arkansas postcard past by Steven Hanley and they print an old postcard each day.  This is Feb 24, 2012 and the card of the day is shown below.

It just so happens that we have a house listed on Mulberry that is inhabited by spirits as local legend goes.  We have permission from the seller to advertise it this way also.  So I peered at this dirt street and read underneath the picture.  It reads, "Quitman, 1914.  There was no traffic on the Cleburne County rural hamlet's tree-lined Mulberry Street when … (29 comments)

mulberry st: Ralston Purina 209 Mulberry. Old Searcy Arkansas. 1976 View - 11/05/10 06:55 AM
The kids in 1976 did a great job of selling ads for the Searcy High School yearbook.  They took lots of pictures and here's one.  It was located at 209 Mulberry and the ad said "Manufacturer of Poultry Chows. Distributor for Dairy and Cattle Chows."  Phone 268 5355.  Ralston Purina Co.

This building looked so much like the one that we just lost and that we featured on this blog just a few weeks ago.  They were located very close to each other also.  Wonder if they were competitors?
