miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: Bathroom Upgrades Under $200! - 06/02/11 11:53 AM
Awesome bathroom upgrades for less than $200 (ARA) - A beautiful bathroom can be uplifting on many levels: it improves your home's resale value and provides you with a welcoming environment in one of the most-used rooms of your house. If your bathroom has become the room in the house you least want to visit, it may be time to consider some cost-effective upgrades. A mid-range bathroom remodel can cost, on average, around $16,000 (and return 64 percent of that cost at the time of resale), according to Remodeling Magazine's 2011 Cost. vs. Value Report. You don't have to spend thousands, … (5 comments)

miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: Lunch Lessons - 02/25/09 02:48 PM
For some reason, it seems like more and more of my day to day experiences are providing me with blog topics....as well as business lessons!  For example, the simple act of going out to lunch the other day inspired this blog...a lesson for sellers, agents, and Pizza Hut!
It was a crazy day and we decided to slip into the Brunswick Pizza Hut to hit the buffet.  It seemed like a good decision at the time...fast...hot...and involving pizza. What could go wrong?
Well..it started with waiting 10 minutes to be seated.  There was no one in line in front of us...tons of … (12 comments)

miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: "If I Was Rich, I'd Do This For Free!" - 02/13/09 11:29 AM
I recently read an article in The Times Record about a local fisherman.  The young man talked about his love for the sea and how much he enjoyed his job. In his own words... "If I was rich, I'd do this for free!"
You can read the whole story here.
That got me thinking about how wonderful it is to love what you do for a living. Considering the average American spends a minimum of 40 hours a week at work....and for Real Estate Agents that figure can be considerably higher... loving your job is important!

Luckily for me, I do … (4 comments)

miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: 5 Signs of Spring....Maine Style... - 04/25/08 07:05 PM
Whether you're moving to Maine or already live in Vacationland, I'm sure you've noticed that spring is here!!!  Just yesterday I overheard a couple who is new to the area discussing the signs of spring that they've noticed lately.  I had to smile as they mentioned the daffodils peeking out of the ground...the birds building their nests...and the fact that the parking lots are 3 times larger now that the mountains of plowed snow have melted. I had to smile because while those are signs of spring, you can see those signs anywhere in the country.  Maine has it's own unique way of … (3 comments)

miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: That's My Boy! - 03/29/08 04:52 PM
Well folks, as a parent, I'm always trying to give my kids advice on things I've learned throughout the years.  But my children are now teenagers, and when I start offering advice their eyes glaze over and I can almost see their hearing turn off.  But every now and then I see something that makes me say huh..they were listening after all. Now sometimes it's accompanied by me turning beet red and exclaiming "I don't know where he picked that up from!" But every once in a while I see proof that they've been listening to the good stuff too.  For example....
My son … (11 comments)

miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: Just as I suspected..... - 01/21/08 07:03 PM
As a Maine Realtor, I find myself constantly being asked "So..how's the market?"  It seems to happen no matter where I go...the grocery store, the library, my son's basketball games...it seems to come up all the time!  Now I don't mind a bit, because if there's one thing I love to talk about it's Real Estate!  But I can always tell when people have been listening to the news, because they get this astonished look on their faces when I tell them that we're doing great!  So I was ecstatic to see a headline in the paper on Friday that said "Maine's Housing prices … (2 comments)

miscellaneous ramblings from a maine real estate agent: Thank You Snowmen! - 12/16/07 06:55 PM
As I write this post, we are currently experiencing a Nor'Easter!  Usually I think that's the Maine word  for "loss of power", but so far so good!  We received about 8 inches of snow, are working on 3 inches of ice, shuddering under 50 mph winds, and the lights haven't even flickered!  So I'd like to take this time while I can still see my keyboard to send out a big Thank You to those I call "The Snowmen"!
So who are the snowmen?  Well, I'm not talking about the little guy in my front yard who lost his hat 5 hours ago and … (2 comments)
