The Making Home Affordable program takes effect as of March 4, 2009. Homeowners can now start taking advantage of the new $75-billion foreclosure prevention program.  It's expected to help as many as 9-million homeowners.
Under the guidelines released loans can be adjusted immediately.  The plan will be in effect until the end of 2012.  Keep in mind that mortgages can only be modified once, so make sure you get it right the first time.

The Bucks County Housing Group offers free housing counseling and workshops.  Introductory workshops are offered once a month.  Individual sessions are typically scheduled after a person or couple attends a workshop.  Face-to-face sessions are usually two to four hours.  This is to comply with most programs.  Meetings are usually scheduled Monday through Thursday at 10:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., or 3:00 p.m.  Other appointment times may be available by special request.
