THERE'S SO MUCH I OWE MY PARENTS! - 11/28/08 07:41 AM
Greetings, Yesterday was a wonderful day, made more wonderful by the fact that my parents are still here to celebrate with us. My Dad is 84, my Mom 85. I have said on more than one occasion that I have what I have because of my parents' sacrifices. There were 6 of us in the family and WE DID NOT GET EVERYTHING WE WANTED! Here's what they did give us: a strong belief in God, clean clothes on our backs, a nice, but modest home (1 car garage, 1 bath) which I know many of you can relate to, especially when we all (11 comments)

Great New Website for Those Preparing Meals for Families in Need! - 11/20/08 09:56 AM
Greetings, I'm sure many of you have been involved in preparing a meal for a family in need. Whatever it is, be it illness, job loss, or just plain need, a home cooked meal is something truly appreciated by those on the receiving end. I, along with many women, have been making meals for a family experiencing an illness. In the past, I would send an e-mail to those I thought would be interested and then create a schedule and e-mail it to everyone on the list. Because people are busy and take vacations there were always requests for specific days, so it (4 comments)
Another financing lesson! - 11/19/08 07:35 AM
Greetings, I am in the Cleveland Ohio market that has been hard hit with foreclosures and some very long market time! I had a client's home listed for sale for well over one year with approximately 1 showing every 2 months! They very much wanted to buy a home in another area so they proceeded to search for a renter for their current home. They got lucky and found a renter within a few days. I checked with the buyer's loan officer who told me they were pre-approved and ready to go. They purchased the home and within one day of the (4 comments)
Greetings, A few days ago I had the good fortune to comment on a post by Vickie McCartney. In it I mentioned that I was new to active rain and asked her a question about one of my posts. To my amazement, she picked up the phone and spent 2 hours with me, (YES 2 HOURS!!) explaining and sharing what she knew and answering many of my questions. In these times when everyone is so busy with kids, work, volunteerism, just to name a few, it absolutely reaafirms for me the need for all of us to share what we know and do so (5 comments)
I am in the Cleveland market where a great deal of our transactions are closing with fha loans. Up until recently, a buyer could ask for as much as 6% towards closing and downpayment and in some cases even more. Most of the downpayment assistance has gone away, but the last few years leave us with comps that are "skewed" I had one such offer on a home where the offer was for $270.000 making the seller concession ~$16,000. My question is this: What is the real value of that home? The agents in my office appear divided. Some say the (4 comments)
