Parents Who Host Lose The Most - 05/26/10 12:50 PM
I have blogged about this before but I think it bears repeating.Parents who host lose the most. This gazebo in the center of the city of Brecksville, Ohio has been the setting for many a prom night.
Off to the side by the road you can see this sign. This time of year when proms are going on in just about every high school, signs like these are pretty common along with radio ads urging parents not to allow under aged kids to drink in their home. A few years ago, while talking with some parents I was astounded to (11 comments)
Chinese Drywall - Problem Manufacturers Identified - 05/26/10 08:59 AM
I have not come across this personally or profesionally yet but this is a great list to have and keep. Via Jay Markanich (Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC): An official list has been developed as regards the continuing investigation of problematic Chinese Drywall. The list is important. It identifies manufacturers whose drywall produces drywalls with emission rates of hydrogen sulfide 100 times greater than non-Chinese drywall samples. Such levels are dangerous medically and corrosive chemically. This list finally gives contractors and home inspectors, consumers and homeowners, who are experiencing problems with these various drywalls, names that they can look for on stamps (0 comments)
What is Closing Protection Coverage? - 05/26/10 08:04 AM
Shortly after a contract is signed, title work on the property will begin. Soon after, both the buyer and the seller will receive a letter from the title company letting them know that Closing Protection Coverage is Available to them. Sarah Minneman, a title rep from North Star Title was kind enough to forward the following explanation for Closing Protection Coverage. In my opinion it is a small price to pay for peace of mind until your transaction is closed.

We All Want A Better Life For Our Kids...Or Do We?? - 05/12/10 08:40 AM
My grandparents and parents are from Slovenia and my in laws from Germany and Hungary. They all knew first hand what it was to be hungry, to be separated by an ocean from the people they loved the most, to hear bombs flying around them, to be persecuted for their religious beliefs and they dreamed of a better life for their children. My Mom was one of 4 children and my Dad one of eight who left everything and everyone who was precious to them to come to America, in search of a better life. In many ways they got it. (18 comments)
What Has Active Rain Given Me? Food For Thought. That's What! - 05/11/10 09:56 AM
What Has Active Rain Given Me? Food For Thought. That's What! I am a huge fan of Active Rain for many reasons: *Founders who believe with all their heart and soul in the company *Friends I have made *Referrals I have received *An education in technology and the internet that in my opinion I could never have received in a classroom *A rejuvenation in myself and in this business With all the above though, I believe I have gained a much better appreciation to think out of the box. I have read countless blogs here that have made me stop and (47 comments)
Hanging Baskets From Blooming Acres Greenhouse Hudson Ohio - 05/07/10 09:11 AM
Hanging Baskets From Blooming Acres Greenhouse Hudson Ohio The weather in Cleveland has been so wonderful this year. It dawned on me that we barely had any snow in March or April this year which is quite unbelievable. In addition we had some of the warmest temps on record n those months. Combine that with the nice weather we will have until and probably through October, and that gives us nice weather for 8 months of the year!! in Cleveland Ohio!! So I decided to get a jump start on my flowers this year and visited a nursery call Blooming Acres. (7 comments)
My New Business Card... - 05/05/10 09:22 PM
Some time ago I wrote a post about the new business cards I would soon have to order. In general, I think ordering business cards is a real pain in the butt, yet it's a necessary evil. I had the most wonderful customer service from Angie @ bizprintsolutiions along iwth the designers that worked on my card. They were unbelievably patient as I made about 19 changes. Yep, you read right! 19. I couldn't tell you all of them but they ranged from please change the black ink to ReMax blue, make sure my name is not bigger than my brokerage's (12 comments)
The Dreaded Annual Physical.... - 05/04/10 10:30 AM
The Dreaded Annual Physical.... This post inspired by Pat Kennedy's post "After a night of binge blogging..." Don't you just hate going in for that dreaded physical? Well, I made myself do that about one month ago. When I got to the office I had to answer questions on one of those 2 sided forms. One of the questions was, "Have you had any recent weight loss (I wish) or weight gain (yes :( ) lately?" . Now I know you can get away with fudging it a little on your driver's license but at the doctor's office? They are going to (4 comments)
Important Changes to Lead Based Paint Disclosure - 05/03/10 09:35 PM
Any practicing Realtor knows or should know about the lead based paint disclosure statement. Any home for sale built prior to 1978 must have a disclosure statement filled out by the seller of a residential home and by a landlord before he/she leases to a tenant, disclosing whether or not they have any knowledge of lead based paint in the home or any reports about lead based paint in the home. Now it's been taken one step further. From the Ohio Association of Realtors: The regulations require that if the renovation or repair work disturbs more than six square feet of painted surface per (7 comments)
Country Lakes Broadview Heights Ohio Real Estate Market Report First Quarter 2010 The numbers you see below are fairly typical first quarter results. Some of the closed and contingent sales likely went under contract in December and early January. I have been very busy during the first quarter as is the case with many of the agents in my office. I would expect a good increase in the number of transactions in the second quarter. Although the number of transactions will increase, it remains to be seen whether or not there will be a significant increase in closed sales prices. (1 comments)
