middleton wi area realtors: Let Them Eat Carrot Cake: The New Farmer's Market in Downtown Middleton Wisconsin - 10/06/10 06:33 PM

Now, there are not one, but TWO Farmer's Markets in Middleton Wisconsin.
GreenwayStation  has it's Thursday market. It is a delightful place and well established for Middleton residents and shoppers from all over the greater Madison area.  This Saturday, pumpkins will be given away to the first 100 kids who stop by.
And now for your veggie shopping pleasurer, a new  and  "very sincere" pumpkin patch, er, I mean Farmer's market tucked away on Terrace Avenue beside the Middleton Depot Museum and stretched out behind the   Middleton Libraryand St. Luke's Lutheran Church on the other side of the railroad tracks.   If … (2 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: Door County Century Bike Ride - 10/05/10 04:40 PM
The  Century Bike Ride 2010 was recently held in  Door County and a couple of very good musician friends of mine from Madison participated, as they have for several years.  Adam Michie of  Bluetrain and Bonobo Secret Handshake and Mark Loder of The Relics are pictured in the first picture.

There were some changes this year, primarily location.  The Fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay is the new locale which affords more people the opportunity  to participate due to the ability to overcome space limitations.

There are two excellent aspects of this race.  The local scenery all along the way is one of them, but the other … (4 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: Harry Andruss of Pillar to Post Inspections: A Greener Kitchen Plus A Snakes Alive! Story - 10/05/10 01:29 PM
When you are in business, you want to refer business to people whom you trust and who conduct themselves in a professional manner and deliver exceptional service.
Harry Andruss,  of Pillar to Post, is a home inspector I have referred and used numbers of times in my years as a Realtor and I have referred him to many other  Realtors, as well.  I do keep to recommending a list of Home Inspectors to Clients but I am always happy to see when Harry is going to perform the home inspection for my  Middleton Wisconsin buyers or my Madison area buyers.
He is very … (6 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: Just Closed: 344 Park Street, Sun Prairie Wisconsin: An Accepted Offer In 4 Days! - 10/03/10 09:02 AM

Robert and Julie are happily setteled in the UP now, or Upper Penninusula of Wisconsin.  That had been "home" to them before they moved to the   Madison Wisconsin suburb of Sun Prairie.   They wanted to return to family and longtime friends. Robert even got his dream job.
They tried for a long time to sell their townhome themselves, since their situation was less than ideal and they knew they could not, as is the case with many many Americans, get as much for the house as they owed. l was referred to them by a mutual friend and together we set out … (2 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: Small Houses You Won't Find in Any Subdivision - 09/19/10 12:22 PM

Jay Shafer does not like vacuuming or dusting or, probably more importantly, having a big footprint and using up too many non- renewable resources.
Here is is in front of one of his homes (this photo may be copywrited). His video is rather fascinating as you tour one of his houses. It includes interior shots and explanations of his concepts. He has appeared on Oprah and on numereous magazine covers.
He is not even the only person building such structures, either.  Gregory Johnson, founder of the small house society writes a blog showing all kinds of people engaged in this movement and many examples … (8 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: Photo: Sunset Over UW Memorial Union - 09/18/10 05:02 PM
Sunsets are something one never ceases to enjoy. So many variations and multitudes of colors! Sometimes the colors are truly surprising and not typical of what you would explain to someone who had never seen a sunset.  A favorite place in Madison  for superb sunset viewing is the UW Memorial Union Terrace,  the heart and soul of UW, as the banners proclaim around this popular hang-out, certainly not exclusive to students and professors, by far. No colors were digitally enhanced for this photo, which I took on a Saturday evening in late July.  A dramatic surreal hue shrouded the sky that night, making all pay … (8 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: Why Housing is One of the Very Best Investments a Family Can Make: Leverage - 09/15/10 03:02 PM
The Stark Company Middleton office is where I am based as a Middleton Realtor. Dave Stark, the President of the  Stark Company Realtors in the Greater Madison WI area, has been blogging about  changing the conversation about Real Estate to basically, counteract the "housing is no longer a good investment" stories ol late in the media and to point out why buying a house is one of the best investments a family can make. Leverage-using debt to increase your rate of return is the topic of this post.  This is dense but worth the time it takes to read it.

middleton wi area realtors: Maintaining Work Life Balance; A Dialog-Not Easy, Is It? - 09/07/10 05:07 PM
I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world.  This makes it hard to plan the day.  ~Elwyn Brooks White
Darn right it's hard! How do you go about maintaining a successful work-life balance? Not very easy, to say the least, when you are a productive and busy Realtor,  or other professional , parent, or businessperson, is it?
But the costs, the long term effects can be hazardous to your health.  Literally. I am not telling you anything new here.
The following article from the Mayo Clinic's website mentions  fatigue and therefore being … (9 comments)

middleton wi area realtors: A (very) Lighthearted Look at My Do-It-Yourself Project - 09/06/10 05:33 PM
A tongue in cheek tale of DIY as a result of your 2 handymen and 1 boyfriend being out of town and you have company coming and have to fix your damn kitchen cabinet door.

I can't believe I just replaced one of those 1-3/8" overlay face frame concealed hinges on my lower kitchen cabinet today. Gooooood girl. (give treat)! And I only had to visit one hardware store and one gigantic national home improvement store where everyone wears orange aprons, to find my replacement part. Feeling rather clever that I thought of using my rattan leopard cushioned papasan footstool with … (4 comments)
