I was looking at what it takes to get on the first page for Florida points-wise. The numbers are mind numbing.

144,000 points is bottom of the ladder.

How many posts does that take?

How many comments?

More importantly, how many hours does one have invested to obtain 144,000 points?

Now the big question?

What is the monetary return on that investment?

Any of you Florida AR studs care to respond?

Fresh on the heels of Fay, Tropical Storm Hanna is bearing down and larger surf is expected over the next few days. Unfortunately, it is still victory at sea for the local surf conditions.

The exact track for Tropical Storm Hanna is harder to predict than that for Hurricane Gustav, as a a weaker storm is less predictable.

What is certain is Labor Day surfing this year is not going to go down in the annals of Florida surfing as "epic".

The Historic City News reported that despite the drenching of 9-12 inches of rain in St. Johns County brought forth by tropical Storm Fay, the area is recovering.

According to the Historic City News,

"St. Johns County staff, including Emergency Management, Parks & Recreation, Engineering, Risk Management and the Property Appraiser’s Office worked closely with FEMA Damage Assessment Teams on Monday to survey the impact from Tropical Storm Fay. The time required to complete these assessments is increased because of the continued growth in many previously rural parts of the county. The FEMA Teams will submit their findings to their regional office for review. St. Johns County will be notified upon completion of the review whether the County meets the threshold for federal assistance."

Tropical Storm Fay caused over one million dollars in damage to residential structures and businesses.

In 1565, Pedro Menendez landed in St. Augustine, Florida.

Today, America's oldest city is celebrating its 443rd birthday with an re-enactment of the truly historic landing of Pedro Menendez.

The re-enactment will take place at the Mission of Nombre de Dios and will be followed by a mass, which Menendez had on that day 443 years ago.

If you haven't been to St. Augustine, it should definitely be added to the travel itenary section of your bucket list.

It's not just the real estate business that is cutthroat these days.

According to Pro Real Estate Network, several less than flattering posts have been removed over the last month from someone(s) who logged in under another moderator's password, which just happened to be the same one the moderator used on Real Estate Webmasters.

Here is an excerpt by Vegas Mack, who I believe is the site owner, that posted about why he thinks REW Morgan Carey is a criminal:

Yesterday one of our Moderators, Mert, contacted me and asked why I deleted one of his threads. I assured him I had not and started checking into it.

To my horror I discovered that Mert’s password was used to delete several threads over the past few months.

The deleted threads have two things in common.

1) They all are less than flattering about Morgan Carey and or RealEstateWebmasters(dot)com.
2) They were all deleted from IPs used by Morgan and employees of RealEstateWebmasters(dot)com.

Ironic, in light of Morgan Carey's recent AR post defending his community with comments like:

"#5. REW will not tolerate any other member stealing (Borrowing) intellectual property or website content without expressed written permission of the owner of said property.."

Some additional reading material about the alleged REW & Morgan Carey forum hacking. Another blog about Morgan Carey accused of hacking was picked up yesterday by many online news wires as well, SEO Guru Greg Boser's post about REW accused of hacking, and the moderator who's password was used wrote about what he perceived to be the criminal intent of REW's Morgan Carey.

With hurricane season fast approaching (June 1 - Nov 1), May 20-26 has been designated as National Hurricane Preparedness Week. The goal is to raise public awareness. President Bush urged each community to “share information about hurricane preparedness and response to help save lives and protect communities.”

Florida residents will want to visit the Florida Division of Emergency Management at www.floridadisaster.org.
