Multitasking- Good, Bad or is it Just a Sex Thing?

I confess even though I work for Keller Williams I have not read the book yet. But I did read the 3 downloaded chapters and enjoyed them thoroughly.

Gary Keller talks about the movie “City Slickers” and I loved it. It was a feel good movie that has a nice ending and lots of funny parts throughout including bringing home a baby calf on an airplane and pulling it behind their station wagon on the CA freeway. Jack Palance starred as the rough and tough cowboy named … (10 comments)

Where did sunflowers come from? This has interested archaeobonanists for many years.

Researchers suspect they came from South America around 4600 and were brought to Mexico and later to the US.

Linguists say the groups of people in South America have words in their different languages for the plant.

According to linguists, the plant resembled the sun so the groups had sun names. … (20 comments)

Social Media has a new role-The Public's Eyes & Ears for News Events

A week ago, a highly respected marathon in Boston, Mass. turned into one of the most catastrophic events in US history. People were confused, lost, injured, separated from others, and social media proved to be a big help.

Google, Facebook and Twitter immediately took over when spectators and marathon runners began grabbing their cell phones to make calls, to take video footage, shot pictures to send to social media sites and to go to the internet and find out any news.

Even an Old Dog Can Learn Some New Tricks
I belong to a MLS that encompasses a huge area of the state. It is called CRMLS and they are always updating the members with email class’s available plus taped and live webinars.

So last week, I decided to sign up for a live webinar and was amazed at some of the new information given.

Sellers Beware....Pitfalls of Over Pricing Your Home
It's hard for homeowners to be realistic when they are emotional about the home they have lived in and raised their family in. But this is exactly what sellers need to do so that they can make rational decisions about a list price that will actually result in a sale. Your decision should be based on homes that have sold in your area that could be considered somewhat comparable to your home; Realtors and Appraisers called them ‘comps’. Stop in at a few open houses in your neighborhood and see how they compare with … (8 comments)

Buyers….Do I Need to Spend My Money on a Home Inspection?

I am a Realtor in California and have compiled a list of questions that are sometimes asked of me when I discuss with buyers about having a home inspection while in escrow.

I think you will find this Q & A article very helpful.

Do I have to have a home inspection?
No, it is your choice but I highly recommend you do.

The cost is around $350 so wouldn’t I be better not to spend it … (16 comments)

Try Ribbit’s New Eraser Tool…it’s Great!

This week Ribbit introduced the Eraser Tool. Now you can easily delete areas from layers, textures, frames and stickers! That means it's now easy to add another person to a photo, and to customize textures, stickers and frames by deleting areas you don't want.

So last night I had to practice doing this and watch the video twice but it is pretty simple and so cool to be able to add people or pets into a picture.

First add both pictures into the Upload area. Click on the main … (16 comments)

It’s Snowing all over Southern California....Yeah!

We have had a storm hit our area and pound us with rain and snow. I thought I would share some pictures. As you can see, the weather continued to get worse and we finally had to turn around as we did not have chains and it was snowing pretty hard. It is beautiful in Southern California and fun to be able to drive to the snow within 15 minutes of home.

My Green Hummer is Camouflaged

Hummingbirds are the smallest bird and can hover in mid air by flapping their wings 12-80 times per second. They are the only bird that can fly backwards. They can fly at speeds up to 34 mph.

They prefer nectar from feeders and flowers but if the sugar level is less than 10%, they will pass it up. Nectar doesn’t give them enough nutrients so they eat insects and spiders as their main source.

They spend an average of 10–15% of their time feeding and 75–80% sitting … (8 comments)

 Red Hawks- Birds of Prey

Hawks are carnivores (meat eaters) that belong to the category of birds known as raptors -- birds of prey. They have strong, hooked beaks; their feet have three toes pointed forward and one turned back; and their claws, or talons, are long, curved and very sharp. The hawk's vision is much better than humans. They can see spiders and beetles from afar. Hawks can see a mouse from a height of one mile.

Beautiful Berries for the Birdies

There are many of these Mountain Ash trees in the Loma Linda, Redlands, and Highland area  of San Bernardino County.

The birds love to munch on the berries.

The food is pretty scarce at this time of the year so the berries off the trees help to keep the birds fed.

The trees are pretty and they do extremely well in the mild climate of Southern California.

Have You Tried PicMonkey to Make Cards and Collages?
Since we lost Picnik, I have been trying out all the different editing software sites and had been pretty happy with another one that works efficiently with any photo you upload.

But during the holidays PicMonkey sent a couple of pictures done on their site onto Google+. It was a pair of snowmen and I go nuts for snowmen so of course I had to check it out.

I even emailed PicMonkey and asked where it was on the site as it was hidden. Within 5 … (12 comments)

Looking Out the Window at the Dentist's Office

Yesterday I had to go to the dentist early in the morning and it was pouring rain. I noticed the last time I was there that there are three hummingbird feeders hanging out front so I thought I would bring my camera.

As I was waiting for the dentist to come back, I saw this little bird. I grabbed my camera and got a couple of pictures fast before it flew away.

I Believe in Giving...and Yes Virginia There is a Santa.

Here we are, December 2012, and there are so many that need help this  holiday. There are many wonderful people who are willing to give so freely from their heart and donate to organizations and fund raisers.

Macy’s Dept Store has been giving back to the community since 1924 when they started having the Macy’s Christmas Parade. Macy’s is still giving back every year and you can help them give money and it doesn’t cost you a penny. This is the 5th year that Macy's has donated $1,000,000 to … (9 comments)

Sarah's Southern Cornbread
This was my mother's basic cornbread recipe that was passed down from her mother in Tennessee. She would make it to eat as a snack, eat with soups or beans, and made her cornbread dressing for the holidays by crumbling it....she never bought boxed dressing. My daughter and I still make it every Thanksgiving and Christmas and eat a small piece before we crumble it. Yummy!

Ingredients:
2 Cups Corn Meal (Yellow or White)
1 Cup All Purpose Flour

Happy Veterans Day 2012 and the History of Armistice Day Today I find myself without a computer and have to type this on my iPad. But I still wanted to wish everyone a "Happy Veterans Day".
Did you know that in November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11, 1919 as the official day to remember the injured or those who died in World War 1 and it was officially called "Armistice Day". This date has been celebrated ever since. In 1954, the holiday was renamed "Veteran's Day" and we continue to remember all the veterans in all the wars ever … (13 comments)
