Gigantic Rubber Ducky at the Port of Los Angeles for
Tall Ships Parade

This week the Tall Ships Parade proceeded through the channel into port. One new addition was the 11Ton Yellow Rubber Ducky. This caused such a commotion that there was more spectators this week. This weekend at Ports a Call, they are expecting about 75-100K visitors and shoppers.

The story of the rubber duck was due to a lost shipment in the ocean of 29K small rubber ducks back in 1992. The ducks are still showing  up all over the world; Alaska, Japan, Hawaii, … (22 comments)

Indoor Plants Help Remove Biological Toxins and Make Your Air Quality Better

During the summertime we find ourselves spending more time indoors. Most homes have biological pollutants that can cause health problems. Poor air quality is typically the problem and not always detectable.

People who decorate their home with indoor greenery and household plants report less complaints about headaches, stress, and heart/circulation-symptoms, as well as a decrease in colds. NASA did a study that found common houseplants improve over all air quality; houseplants were able to remove up to 87 percent of air toxins in 24 hours. The … (6 comments)

The Big Hawk on the Lamp Post
Today while driving home to Loma Linda, CA, I saw a Red Hawk on the light post. Then this tiny little bird stopped on the post. They both sat there for a minute and then the Hawk flew off. Amazingly enough, the little bird chased after the Hawk.

They both flew into a huge tree and never fly out....... Not sure what to make of that. Could they be friends?

It's Raining and I Cannot Go Outside
California is on storm watch and the rain this weekend has been pretty steady. My two dogs are sad that they cannot go outside and play in the rain.

So since they could not go outside, they just snuggled up and took naps.

We are experiencing a drought in California so I am so grateful for the rain this weekend. It is pouring right now! Keep up those "Raindances" as we need more rain.

Horses at Fascination Ranch in Calimesa

Where else can you drive down the street and see people horseback riding? That's right, not many places in Southern California but can be a common site in Calimesa and Yucaipa, CA.
There is a ranch in Calimesa called Fascination Ranch. It is a terrific place to see wildlife, plan a wedding or just have a social event. Check out their website at http://fascinationranch.com/. Notice they are wearing helmets while riding as they practice good safety skills for their clients.

When I was reading about the ranch's history, I found that the Singleton Ranch was … (15 comments)

6 More Weeks of Winter According to Phil at Punxsutawney
Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania is the world's most famous forecaster. Phil  popped out of his burrow Sunday morning and saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter while the crowd gathered at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, PA.
According to folklore, if it's cloudy when the groundhog emerges, the critter will leave his burrow, signifying that winter will soon end. If it's a sunny day, Phil will supposedly see his shadow and, frightened, retreat back into his burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.
Phil emerged at 7:28 a.m. but … (4 comments)

Did You Know there is a Color of the Year for 2014....Color me Happy

Silly me...I did not know there was a color of the year. But I love the color orchid or lavender and find myself taking pictures of anything this color.

According to the Pantone Color Institute Website, the Pantone Color Institute has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist since 2000. This year, 2014, they have chosen the color "Radiant Orchid".

Started off with a fantastic welcoming party to all members and our speaker was terrific. Of course her discussion was interrupted during the football game at the final play where the ball was dropped and made everyone scream. Celebrate Chinese New Year

Did you know this Chinese New Year 2014 is the 'Year of the 'Horse'. I was fascinated while reading the history. I had always known there was 12 months and 12 different animals. So while reading, I found out why. Legend has it that Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on the Chinese New Year. 12 animals showed up so he named one for each month. Depending on what year you are born, you take on certain traits and personalities. The 12 animals are the … (4 comments)

Be Careful What you Tweet or You May Get a Defamation Suit
For the past few years, social media has become more and more popular and shocking and outlandish statements are said.  People are posting pictures and sometimes these are taken out of context plus it might not even be the same person. It seems like no one holds back on social media but the new trend might be for tweeters to find themselves at the other end of a defamation lawsuit.
This week, a defamation case went to trial brought by Musician … (50 comments)

What Not to Do if Sellers Really Want to Sell Their Home
Typically when the Realtor meet the homeowners for the first time, they have already cleaned up inside and out as it is their intention for the home to look perfect and sell for the very best price. Realtors may have some suggestions to make the home even look more appealing to buyers. But of course there are always homeowners who feel they know what is best and disregard any suggestions by the agent.
Here is a list of items I have come across that delayed the selling of the homes I listed.
