hummingbirds: Dancing in the Rain...Hummingbirds

Dancing in the Rain...Hummingbirds A few days ago we had a big rainstorm and most of the birds go off and take cover until the rain stops. But of course the hummingbirds visit my two feeders every day, over and over and even after it gets dark so why would a little rain stop them. Here they are dancing in the rain!
And how happy they were when the rain stopped.

The hummingbirds have hung around this winter so I try to give them fresh nectar every week. I decided it would be a nice change to give them red this week and they have been standing in line to get to the nectar.
I am thinking they like the red nectar more!

Plant trees and plants to attract these pollinators into your yard and you will find hours of enjoyment and entertainment for you and your family.
Seven years ago the U.S. Senate’s unanimous approval and designation of a week in June as “National Pollinator Week” marked a necessary step toward addressing the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinator Week has now grown to be an international celebration of the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles. The growing concern for pollinators is a sign of progress, (16 comments)

I have two huge "Mexican Bird of Paradise" Bushes in my yard and they attract the hummingbirds, the bees, and the butterflies. It is a great plant and blooms from April to October each year. It is an amazing plant the traffic never stops.
Yesterday as I looked out my kitchen window, a hummingbird was at the glass enjoying the last flower on my plant. Also the feeders were empty and they come and pound on the french doors when they want me to fill them up. ***************Thanks for reading my blog*************************************

hummingbirds: It's Bath Day for the Hummingbirds

It's Bath Day for the Hummingbirds I noticed yesterday that a family of hummingbirds were in my fountain taking a bath. It was so funny to watch them. They hung out about 10 minutes.
I have about 3 or 4 species of hummingbirds in my yard but mainly see the Anna's Hummingbird. Costa's Hummingbird has a beautiful purple iridescent head and sides. Such a regal looking bird watching over my yard. He has a shorter neck and stockier build. He sits way up high and makes lots of noise.

Do you ever feel like you are alone and working for nothing. You hustle, follow leads, have rejected offers and just feel like you are wasting your time. We all have those days or months but I believe hard work does pay off. Many agents just sit and wait for their phone to ring and these agents do not last in the business.
It has been a slow year for many but I believe hard work and dedication will pay off and you will have (12 comments)
This morning the sky looked so beautiful at sunrise that I could not ignore it. It was calling out to me to grab my camera and “take the picture”. It looks like a huge fireball in the sky and I love the purple tones. We had a big rain storm last night and that must be why it looks different than usual. But is was more than that. I said this is the "First Day of the Rest of Your Life" so make the most of it. It was a very inspiring moment (14 comments)
I typically keep my office pretty clean by putting my receipts all in one big box and the larger files and booklets in another big box. So when the first of the year comes, I am usually spending several weeks getting my records sorted, scanned, and organized. Does this sound familiar.
One of my colleagues told me she had bought a new scanner several weeks ago and loved it. Oh thanks I said but I have a pretty new scanner and it works fine plus it (14 comments)
Over the past few weeks, our nation has suffered bad weather in the east and gulf and on 9-11 we had 4 Americans killed overseas. But this morning as I looked out my window and see the beauty of this hummingbird just looking up at the sun without a care in the world, I thought we must live life for today and appreciate the beauty around us.
No matter where you live, what state, rural or urban, there is so much beauty around us. We must stop and appreciate (24 comments)

This morning when I went outside, I noticed the lily I had transplanted was blooming. This was a nice surprise as I did not expect it. It made me think about my real estate career and never knowing what might pop! Look how lovely my flower looks.
This flower reminded me of selling real estate. Have you ever noticed that every transaction has a little problem during escrow? You think you have seen it all and know all the answers and then…….escrow calls and says “we have a problem” (8 comments)
I am a real advocate for hanging bird feeders in your yard; the more the better but have never had a hummingbird feeder until last week. I hung it up and not one hummingbird. I hung ribbons and put flower pots below and finally they arrived last night. I am very happy as I love the little hummingbirds.

Here is the recipe for the Artificial Nectar.
Use one part ordinary white cane sugar to four parts water.
It's not necessary to boil the water. The microorganisms that cause fermentation don't come from the water; they are transported to the feeder on hummingbird bills. Store unused syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
This mixture approximates the average sucrose (25 comments)
hummingbirds: Speechless Sunday- My Special Hummingbird Nest
- 08/14/11 02:47 AM
Speechless Sunday- My Special Hummingbird Nest! In the spring, while checking on the size of the plums growing on my plum tree, I came face to face with this hummingbird nest. I didn’t want to scare her as she was protecting her eggs. I enjoyed watching the male bird bring her food for the next couple of weeks. Finally we had baby birds peeking their heads up out of the nest and eventually flying away. I miss the birds and hope they will come back next year.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the nature around you!
