While at my new house today, I saw what I thought was a green ball roll into the dirt of my backyard. Upon closer observation I realized it was a large green lime???
Then in the corner of the yard I see 2 squirrels fighting over a second lime.
I tried to get close but was taking pictures with only my iPhone.

nature: Do You Grow your Own Birdseed?
- 09/01/13 05:02 AM
Do You Grow your Own Birdseed? I buy big bags of an assorted wildlife mix for my birds and it seem to last a long time. Recently a lot of corn has popped up in my yard where the seeds had fallen last spring before I moved that feeder.
Hadn't notice until yesterday but these plants are getting very tall and even my dogs are trying to eat the leaves.
Last summer a big sunflower plant came up in this spot spot but it died off after blooming for several months.

nature: Wild Donkeys in the Hills of Southern California
- 08/02/13 02:56 AM
Wild Donkeys in the Hills of Southern California While driving in the South West hills of San Bernardino County, in the Reche Canyon area, I saw the wild donkeys. I am always so fascinated by their endurance to climate differences during the year.
They must deal with cars when crossing the roads, extreme hot and cold weather conditions and most important the lack of food and water but they still seem to remain for all these hundred of years.
Since the land they live on is not owned by the Federal government, (14 comments)
Today, I stopped by to visit with one of my friends. She had a ladder sitting out on her patio and I asked if she had any repairs going on. No she says but come and see my birds nest. So I got up on the ladder and there was a baby bird waiting for its mother to return. I only had my iPhone so I quickly took a few photos and got down off the ladder. It was hard to get the head shot but you can see (6 comments)
Pelargoniums......commonly known as Geraniums and one of my favorite flowers. I have them growing in my yard in a variety of colors.
There are 422 known species of Geraniums. They are commonly known as the Cranesbills in England. These plants are found in most warm climates throughout the world.
I like them because my mother had them everywhere when I was going up. In pots, in the yard, and climbing (16 comments)

nature: It's Bath Day for the Hummingbirds
- 05/25/13 12:09 AM
It's Bath Day for the Hummingbirds I noticed yesterday that a family of hummingbirds were in my fountain taking a bath. It was so funny to watch them. They hung out about 10 minutes.
I have about 3 or 4 species of hummingbirds in my yard but mainly see the Anna's Hummingbird. Costa's Hummingbird has a beautiful purple iridescent head and sides. Such a regal looking bird watching over my yard. He has a shorter neck and stockier build. He sits way up high and makes lots of noise.

Celebrate Earth Day today April 22 .....Plant some Flowers or a Tree
What day of the week is Earth Day 2013? This observance always falls on April 22. On Earth Day, enjoy the tonic of fresh air, contact with the soil, and companionship with nature! Walk through the woods in search of emerging wildflowers and wildlife. Enjoy the outdoors.
Ever wondered how Earth Day started? This observance arose from an interest in gathering national support for environmental issues. In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots (12 comments)
